How long before your wedding did you buy your dress?

It can take six months for a dress to come in so I wouldn't really leave it that late.

I think its usually 6-9 months before the wedding that you should get your dress.

I've been really organised and got mine already though.

I got mine 2 months ago, although i haven't got a proper wedding gown, ive gone for more of a prom type dress. i saw it and loved it, so got it. Not getting married till may next year.

don't know what the norm is for ordering dresses.

I got mine in May 08 for wedding in July 09. I asked the ladies in the shop if I was too early and they said 12-18 months is good. Apprently if the bride still can't decide and its less than a year they ask her to 'try to decide'!

I ordered early May (as I've said!) and it should be in some time in April...

I ordered mine the last weekend in February for an August 2nd wedding. It came into the shop two days after the Easter holidays finished, so I had to wait six weeks til May half term to go and try it on!

I ordered a year before & was told 4-6 months for delivery.

I 'ordered' mine in November 08 - I get married in Sept 09 - I am having my dress made from scratch from ideas and several bits I liked from other dresses !! I was very late ordering and I was the last boooking for that time for year !! she normally likes between 12 - 16 months to design and make it !!

so if that is something you are considering leave plenty of time !!

I have my 1st fitting of the dress at the end of april and am soooooo excited !!!

I ordered min mid november 08 and we get married end of august 09

I ordered mine at the end of January and am getting married on 22 August.

I ordered mine this January for our wedding in October. I was told that my dress won't be delivered to the shop until May/June so I'd recommend it being one of the first things to start looking for.

I ordered mine in August, get married 30 May this year. Dress has just arrived and have first fitting next Thursday.

I'm getting married at the end of July next year and am planning to start looking for my dress around September time this year with the view to getting it ordered by October or November. That gives me around 8 months so i have more than enough time to shop around and also to ensure I'm the size I want to be!

That said I know a few 2010 brides that have ordered their dresses already. I think if you find one you fall in love with, go for it!

I picked my dress 18 months before and paid a deposit then went back 6 months before to be measured and they ordered it then, it took 4 months to come in.

I ordered mine end of August last year and am getting married end of Sept this year.
