How long did it take to hear back from the registrar?

Thanks for your reply, it is nerve wracking waiting! You can't arrange anything else until it has been confirmed! 7 weeks is a long time!

I've been in touch with our venue and they seem quite relaxed about holding the date so that's reassuring but they did advise me to email the registrar again as they have had a few confirmations recently!

Also waiting to hear from registrars! I got in touch with them on the 15th July to book but no news yet. The good news is it looks like most people are in the same situation so it's not just us!

We've managed to book the venue and photographers so far, with both confirming they'll provisionally hold the date until we get the go ahead. I think a lot of suppliers are aware of the delays at the moment

I'm so relieved to see a post about this!!! I am getting married in the ribble valley february 2022 and have also had a nightmare waiting. I have reassured me on the date and time and have told me they will ring in due course When I last spoke to them they were still sorting out 2021 weddings 😱 fingers crossed we hear back soon.

It's very stressful isn't it! I still haven't heard anything back, when did you originally book? February will come round quick!! Which venue have you picked? There are so many in the Ribble Valley!

We had originally booked a bigger venue last year during lockdown but with Covid we decided to change to a smaller venue, I heard back really quick from the registrar when I booked last year but this year is a completely different story!

It's very reassuring to hear others are in the same predicament! Yes most suppliers are aware, we are the same with ours, we haven't paid our deposit yet to make sure we can have the date. Even if the time has to be different, at this point I don't care!

We have booked our photographer, florist and cake maker who luckily can all do that date as well.

So we booked our venue first - July 2020 when the registrar wasn't even acknowledging bookings lol - but I emailed the Lancashire registrar office to let them know that we had booked a venue and wished to get married on that day. I was able to reserve a date and a time in advance so that I knew that my date was safe and now Im waiting for the ceremony officer to take payment.
It took a couple of months to hear back but I would recommend ringing them and asking them to just confirm they have your date and time in the diary so you can go ahead with your venue. I also send a few very polite grovelling emails 😂. What has your venue recommended? Because there are so many wedding venues in the ribble valley they have a lot of registrars so I would feel confident that they would be able to cater to your date 😊
Its all a bit back to front at the moment really! I actually rung up yesterday and they are still going through the booking and payment for 2021 weddings 🙃

Oh Mitton Hall is lovely! I was at a wedding there a few years ago, it has such a nice atmosphere. We're getting married in Holmes Mill! I'm really excited, I keep going to food festivals etc there just to go up to the function room!

Do you know the funny thing is, I had emailed twice in July and didn't get an acknowledgement email but then I emailed again last week and got one! We haven't even had an email stating the date is free or anything, I have had no reply so I will give them a ring just to make sure our date is free, thanks.

Holmes Mill have said to email again which I have done as they were getting a few confirmations last week from the registrars. They are holding our date until we hear back which is really good.

Are Mitton Hall doing the same for you?

We actually heard back from the registrar a couple of days ago so it took about 5 weeks to hear back. Good news is we got the exact date and time we requested!
I did send them a follow up email a day or so before so not sure if that sped it up or whether it was a coincidence but might be worth giving them an email to see if they can give you an update or let you know how long it might be to hear back

So we have booked and paid our deposit at Mitton Hall and have the date and time we want reserved, so now we are just waiting for them to take payment but our date is secured and we have written confirmation of that. I would ring up and let them know that you need confirmation as soon as possible because you are worried about losing your venue (even if you are not) because they are such more accommodating when you speak over the phone. I felt much more reassured after speaking to them ❤
I booked at Mitton in July 2020 and then managed to reserve the date in April. Before that time they were not even allowing people to reserve a time, they just said they weren't discussing future bookings until May the 1st. But I kept pestering them 😂 Totally get why you want acknowledgement before you book it was super stressful!

It is a really nice venue, yes I think they are all run by James Places!!

I just tried to call the registrar and the guy at the council said they aren't taking phone calls! Everything is just by email now! Well that hasn't helped the stress levels!!

When did you last speak to them? They must just be so busy, my friends mum works for Burnley registrar and she's retiring early due to the stress of the back log!!

I know, it says on the website they are doing everything in order of the date it was received. I'll just have to wait, there's nothing more I can do!

I am getting married in may 2022 and I contacted east Lancashire registerer in may of this year and they said they have saved my date and time and will contact me to take payment. Still not took payment yet. Anyone still with this same issue with Lancashire registers?

I have literally just heard back from the registrar today saying they have saved our date and time but will be in touch for payment, they are doing them in order of the date the requests were received.

It blanked out the number!! I sent them a bit of forceful email and I got a response today! I just put urgent in the subject heading and it worked!!

Covid really has, I'm looking at wedding insurance now and that's really hard to find because of Covid, a lot of places aren't offering new policies yet! x

It was really stressing me out but we have just paid the venue deposit! If you do email them, put urgent in the title, it worked wonders!

Are you having a band or a DJ? We're thinking of a singer of some sort.
