How long does it take to organise a wedding?

I just wondered if anyone knew how quick you can get married in registary office, is there an amount of notice you have to give?

I think, only think, that under extenuating circumstances (terminal illness etc), you can rush it through quicker.

OP, is it the legal marriage that you want quickly or are you also seeing if you can plan a wedding party in a short time?
