Not that long. I'm on my second number, first was analogue in 1995. Maybe since 1997/1998.

    I couldn't change mine either.

Only had this current one since January as I had to change it due to malicious calls etc.

Since about 1994 I think. I've always been with the same provider too.

I don't get people who change their number all the time. I'm very protective of my number. I have had this one around 10 years. Previous to that I had MrB's phone number and passed it onto him when I got a staff phone via Orange. I could not part with it now.

My brother has always had the same number, and he got a mobile phone when they were relatively new and he had crap coverage as they didn't have many masts up.

Since 1999, when I bought my first mobile - it's survived a transfer between operators as well.

I've taken it across four networks now, probably 10 years.

It was from 1997 but then I had to get a new one last november because I was getting too many sales calls (3-4am every night) I went from vodafone to 02. I dont know my new number though!

I've had mine for around 9 years. It had to be changed slightly once when they changed all the mobile numbers from (i cant remember what mine was!) to 078/077 etc I think my original was 01727 or something.

All of my staff seem to text me a lot giving me new numbers. I get them for some of the girls every few months. Is it abnormal to have one number for years?

I also don't understand people who change them every few months, surely you can carry them over nowadays? Also, I tend to start to mistrust the number I have for that person if they're always changing it, wondering whether I actually updated my phone etc.

I've had this number since I went to contract about 7 years ago, I'm back on PAYG now and managed to keep it thankfully.

? I opened this thread expecting to be the person who had had theirs the longest (since 1998) then reading all your replies I think we are all about the same age!!!!!

I now have 2 phones because I have my number and a work number, but after so long my mobile is like a landline and sooooooooo many people have that number which means I get random texts from people who I think I have lost touch with which is nice! I am really bad at updating peoples numbers and am of the same old git opinion that why change there is no need to unless you have something to hide bah humbug?

12 years I think its been through 3 networks (been with the most recent 8 years) and a different phone every year! No need to change it, just transfer it.

I've had mine a relatively short time compared to everyone else!! I think it's about 5 years and it's been through a fair number of providers and pay monthly and pay as you go. It's a really, really easy number so I'd never change it now. I have a friend that changes hers every year (even though she stays with the same provider) and it drives me mad!!! ?
