I am making my own (apart from OH) and I am just going to make about 20 extra. We are having approx 60 day guests so not one for everyone but I'm not too worried! Not everyone will wear them and don't think guests expect to have them so if you decide not to provide them I wouldn't worry.

We just had them for the men in the bridal party. I think they were about £5 each so having one for each guest would have been way too expensive. I think this used to be more common but as weddings are bigger now buttonholes just tend to be for the bridal party. Lovely idea though if you can manage it!

We only had them for the men in the bridal party (9). They were £3 each so to have them for the rest of the guests would have cost a fortune.

We also had 'sprays' for the two mothers and would have done for the grandmothers if any had been able to be there.

The typical number of buttonholes we receive orders for is 6, (groom, bestman, father & mother of bride, father & mother of groom), but increasingly customers are purchasing buttonholes for each guest. Our buttonholes are £1.80 each so for example 50 guests would be £90.

I think it's probably best to have them just for the Bridal Party- back in the day, people always used to buy them for each guest at a wedding but like everything, costs have gone up. When I was a florist in the 80's-90's it was usual to have a carnation for each guest but they used to be between 75p and £1 each, you would have corsages for the mums and fancy buttonholes for the groom/best man,dad which were between £1.50-£4.50 . There is always a chance that you can negotiate if you are buying lots of other flowers from the florist, it's always worth asking x

I'm suprised nobody else has bought them for every guest! We have fancier ones for the bridal party, but we have ivory carnations for everybody else. They cost £1.50 each.

i wasn't going to have them but my mum thought it would be nice for everyone to have them (she's quite old fashioned) and offered to pay for them Smiley smile xxx

    I'm providing the following

    1 x H2B

    1 x best man

    2 x grooms men

    2 x dads

    2 x mums

    2 x granddads

    1 x nan

    1 x great aunt

1 x H2B's son (if he comes - which is unlikely ? but ordered anyway)

So total 13 - that's enough for my budget!

I had my family me that we had to do one for everyone who was attending the wedding, and tbh it made more determined I wasn't going to. My partner and I have done our wedding how we wanted it. My dad has given us money towards the flower and my partner and I decieded, after much discussion and me insisting that we had to have some people, that we would not do the entire bridal party, but we would the important people. Groom, 2 witnesses, Usher, his parents and their partners, my mum and her husband and my dad. They cost 2.50 each. My nan kept telling to buy cheap carnations from tesco's, but I refused to.

We had corsages for our mums and buttonholes for both our dads, groom (he got a special one), best man and ushers x 2. I have only been to one wedding where they had buttonholes for everyone, and it was a nice touch, but it is not essential.
