How many musicians did you have?

Hi all,


I’m trying to work out how many musicians we’d need for our day. We’re having a DJ in the evening (our venue isn’t the best for live bands apparently) but I’d like a live singer or potentially a harpist (or both) throughout the day.
Do people usually have the live music throughout their wedding breakfast? Or would this be best just to be a background music coming from a playlist?
Any thoughts / ideas / suggestions welcome!

    It depends on the budget. Mostly I see the live music for the ceremony and drinks reception whilst I a taking the photos. They will then sometimes carry on during the wedding breakfast after moving position from usually outside where the photos were. Harpist or duo most commonly, one singer and one with an instrument. Or just a single singer with backing track. Or solo guitar player who sings too.

    best to keep it low key for the wedding breakfast but they could liven it up for the last song after everyone has eat.

    Or you could just leave the venue pipped music on during the meal - its what most people do.

    Band wise for the evening perhaps the venue has volume restrictions in place.

    You can usually choose packages with a live singer it might be worth browsing their websites to see if there's something suitable, I know when I enquired the singer could tailor it to suit 🥰 we are having an all day DJ that way we're covered from guest arrival to end of the night

    We've got a string quartet for ceremony and drinks reception and a DJ for the evening. We considered a band but couldn't find one we liked. They mostly seemed really expensive when we prefer the actual recordings of the songs we like!
