How Many OOS?

yorkshirekiwi, 5 August, 2014 at 02:47 Posted on Planning 0 7

Sorry for the duplicate post as I know this has been asked before, but I think it was a while ago and I can't find the thread.

We're having 100 guests to our wedding - everyone is an all day and all night guest. The vast majority are in couples or families, and that 100 includes 20 children under 12. For 100 guests I sent out 48 invitations. Can I get away with 50 Order of services, or will people expect to have their own?

If it makes a difference, we'll be using the church hymn books rather than printing the hymns and everyone will have one each of those, so the OOS is really just a guide to what's happening for the ceremony and the rest of the day - no real 'reading' will be involved.

I'm hand making my own, so I'm really hopeful that 50 will be enough!

What are your opinions?

I got told you need one per person. However I know my other golf always shares mine and I can't see all the children wanting one. Maybe make 60/65 so you have a few spared just in case.

We have 65 guests and I've made 30 but was thinking I might do another 20! We have no children except those in the bridal party, but I was thinking of them as mementos of the day. Probably they will end up in the bin though so maybe one per couple is enough!

We didn't have anything but I went to a church wedding last year and most people had one each, apart from the last 15 or so that were seated, they all had 1 between 2.

I think 50 would be fine.

I like having one each but if you're making your own that would add considerably to your budget and time, I imagine!

If you do go for one between two, you must make sure that your ushers are on the ball about giving them out, otherwise the first people to arrive may well take one each and leave the last ones with none.

I've bought an a2 canvas and putting the order of the day on that. Was tempted to do individual ones but I saw a picture of one on a canvas and fell in love so that's what we are doing

Thinking about it, I'd be inclined to go for more than 50 even if you don't do one each - yes numerically you have enough for one between two, but what if people don't neatly fit into pairs e.g. a couple with one child (and yes, some children will want to follow them!), or a single person - they may not want to share with strangers? 60 might be more comfortable.

I am sure people will be fine sharing 1 between 2
