How much is everyone paying / budgeting for flowers?

cford09, 26 of March of 2012 at 21:51 Posted on Planning 0 22

Flowers are pretty much our last of the 'big' things to organise and, as with most things, I'm not sure what I should be looking at price wise.

We need my bouquet, 2 BM handtieds, 2 flower girl posies, 4 buttonholes, a top table arrangement and flowers for fishbowls to decorate the tables.

If you don't mind, could you tell me how much you are spending on flowers and what you are getting for your money?

Many thanks

I'm trying to keep flowers to a minimum so £100 max. I only need my bouquet, 2 posy's for bridesmaids and 6 buttonholes and 3 small womens corsages (if they're different to buttonholes!) I think I'll go with ranunculus which are only about £0.50p per stem, and I might pop to the supermarket the day before and get four of five bunches of tulips and take my own vases to put one on the gift table and one on the bar.

I know flowers are a bit of a luxury and just get thrown away but I just didn't feel like the day would be complete without them and I wanted them to make an impact. We're spending around 800 for: brides' bouquet, 5 bm bouquets, 1 flower girl posy, 2 mother corsages, 9 buttonholes, and 10 table arrangements. We're having mostly peonies with some English roses and some orchids.

Mine are coming in at around £500

This is for a large shower bouquet for myself

    2 BM posies

    5 buttonholes

    2 corsages

    A Long and Low

5 centrepieces including hire of mirrored plates

and 2 Thank You bouquets for the mums!

A lot depends on the flowers you choose and how many etc We're having roses which is a more expensive flower so we're only using 3 of them and foliage for our centrepieces to keep cost down! My bouquet is the most expensive at £125

    Hello

I've just had my first quotes in for flowers. I have found that fishbowl tables centres seem to be cheaper to get them through the people who do chair covers rather than a florist.

    Ive had quotes for roughly:

    Brides hand tied: £95-£100

    BMs: £50-£60 each

    Flower girl: £25-£35

Registrar table long & low: £95 (will be moved downstairs to our top table) - 2 birds, one stone!

2 x pillars with arrangement on each for either side of aisle: £95 each

    Buttonholes: £6-£10 each

    Corsages: £15 each

    Thankyou bouquet for Mum: £40-£55

Ive been quoted for roses, orchids, hypericum berries and carnations

    Hope that helps xxx

Given that flowers cost so stupidly much, we aren't having any other than the ones provided for the top table by our venue...

instead we're having pinwheels for the BMs bouquets, buttonholes and centrepeices...

we're getting married by the sea so fit the venue too!

Hi, I'm spending a fair bit on flowers, I'm on my phone so can't give you the exact breakdown, but I'll have a go! My bouquet 70 5 BM bouquets 35 each 1 flower girl's pomander 25 2 large pedestal arrangements (inc hire of vases etc) 70 each 10 large table centrepieces 70 each 1 top table arrangement (it's three separate pieces, though) 70 3 corsages 15 each 8 button holes 5 each I think that's it...I'd have them everywhere if I could, but I tried to temper my love of flowers with the acceptance that they will be dead within two days! (Sorry if this post comes out with no paragraphing/list format, my phone seems to just remove all the spacing I add).

With fresh flowers a lot depends on which flowers you choose and whether they are in season or not. Generally speaking, choice or exotic blooms such as orchids, calla lilies, peonies, lily of the valley, gardenia, and certain varieties of specialist roses (David Austin for example) are considered the creme de la creme of the floral world so these are the most expensive. However, you can keep the costs down considerably by using a few of these blooms in with other seasonal flowers which will give you a luxury looking bouquet without the big price tag.

Prices vary depending on whether you use an out of town florist or a town centre one and also if you live in the South of the country, they are more expensive than in the North just as everything else is. There are many modern, minmalistic bouquets which look stunning and don't cost the earth so worth exploring this option if you are on a limited budget. I always think that if you have a limited amount to spend, then spend the bulk of this on your bouquet and your Groom's buttonhole as these are the ones which will be the focus of the photographs in years to come and also on the day, you will be the main people that guests will be looking at. Spend as little as you think you can get away with on bridesmaids as even small bouquets can snowball into a large cost if you have a lot of bridesmaids.

Pricewise, there are prices on my website but mine are all artificial but there isn't a huge amount of difference in price of realistic artificial and fresh these days. It's just a matter of preference and whether you would like to keep them or not.

Ours are about £520 for my shower bouquet, 2 bms (1 arm held, 1 pomander), 1 buttoniere, 7 button holes, 2 corsages, 7 table centres, 3 arrangements for the top table and 4 window arrangements.

The flowers will be mixed, alot of whats in season, but will include peonies and roses also.

It seems to me that with flowers you can usually souce something to match your budget rather than the other way round... as long as you re somewhat realistic and flxible in your flower types etc.

    Nothing!

Wasn't fussed about flowers. My friend thought I was a freak, so made me a brooch bouquet.

I've now budgeted about £50, have spent about £15 on fabric so far, and am making all the flowers for fabric bouquets for myself and my 3 bridesmaids, buttonholes for 4 men, and little ribbon and fabric flwoer wands for my flower girls. Easy peasy, and they'll last forever!

Thinking about the labour that goes into floristry, all the steps it takes to get the flowers to the florist, conditioned, and then designed and arranged, I completely understand why flowers cost 'so much,' but I just couldn't justify spending that amount on something so temporary.

(that being said, my venue provides table flower arrangments at no extra cost, so I will have those)

    I'm spending £330.50 with the florist and for this I get;

Brides bouquet of mainly roses with fillers, pearls and lace - £90

    3 x BM's bouquets (smaller version) - £40 each

    Grooms buttonhole - £5.95

    7 x Gent's buttonholes - £5.95 each

    2 x mums corsages - £7.95 each

Pedestal of flowers at reception venue - £60

The top table arrangement is included with the venue which saves us £120 and the church pedestal is being arranged by the church warden for £60.

We're not having floral centrepieces, instead we're having candelabras, mirror, tealights, rose petals and crystals.

We haven't budgetted a set amount as such but i'm hoping they won't come to anymore than £500. A friend of my soon to be mother in law is arranging all the flowers for the church so i don't need to worry about that.

    I'll need:

    * A bouquet for me

    * Small posie with ribbon for my bridesamaids, 3 and then 2 small ones for the flowergirls

    * Grooms Buttonhole and 4 males

    * 2 mums corsages

    * Top table arrangement and 6/7 table arrangements

I'm too tight to fork out much so foam rose bouquets that I am making myself (me + 2 BMs) + 6 x bottonholes - @£50

On the tables I want big bunches of baby breath/Gyp (whatever the heck it's called) in cut glass vases which will be cheap. Also, we're planning on going to a flower market the day before so may grab a few other bits and pieces depending what's in season - so long as they are white, lilac or cream I can't say I really care so long as the bouquets are sorted it's fine....all fiiiine....

Hopefully less than £100. For me, flowers are an unnecessary expense so trying to keep it as low as possible. Just a bouquet, 3 x pomanders, and 6 button holes. I'm not a fan of flowers so they'll be playing a minor role in the day.
