How often do you get your roots done?

Hugo Brambles, 7 April, 2009 at 22:13 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5

I am actually thinking about going mousey so I don't have to look awful about one week after my roots come back.

When I was a kid my hair was really really light blond and since I've got older its gone very dark blond and now has grey to boot. Its nice when I have it done but a week or so later the roots come though and it looks so obviously not natural it drives me mad.

I did go brunette for a couple of years thinking that would solve the roots issue but when the roots grey though then, I couldn't believe how light they were - I can't win ?

To give you an idea, this is my hair colour now https://www.lorealparisusa.com/_us/_en/external/images/products/large/HCo11_25_large.jpg

This is what I am thinking of asking for https://www.ioffer.com/img/item/626/893/91/149163608_tp.jpg or http://img.classiccloseouts.com/images_104/attributes_m/5DZ159285.jpg

How often do you get your roots done? I can only afford it every 6 weeks.

Every 6 weeks. I could maybe go 7-8. Its only really for the grey though. My hair and dye aren't that different so its not too obvious.

When I had my hair "Ulrika Jonsson" blonde, I had my roots done every 3 weeks! ? Now I'm a much more natural "mid-blonde" with dark chocolate panels underneath and I can get away with getting them done every three months although admittedly I do have it tied up a LOT in the last four weeks or so when its darker and there's not much blonde left in the fringe.

I can't really afford the £100 bill any more often than that - it's just not high enough on my list of priorities and I'd rather have more Personal Training sessions to be honest.

I'm a natural mousey with grey pieces. I have it dyed (semi perm) a dark brunette colour. Prob once every few months or so myself at home, and a decent colour put on every six months or so at the hairdressers.

Made the mistake at the weekend of having blonde highlights put through, thinking that would solve the grey regrowth issue. Never again! I went back today and they put a semi perm dark colour all over for me (luckily for free) as they were just hideous.

So I'll be dark for a while now, at least until they grow out underneath. ?

I used to have blonde highlights [:'(] such a bad idea. You could literally see them growing out if you watched!

I started going grey at about 24 and used to colour myself. At about 30 I was almost 100% grey and went down the blond highlight route. But at £60 + a month I couldn't afford it and besides didn't really like the the blond (i'm naturally dark brown with dark eyebrows).

I now get a brown/red mix and get my roots done every 3-4 weeks. It's a needs must, I will not be grey at only 33! I've been using the same hair salon for years and as a regular they now only charge me £36 for root tretament one month, then the next month £48 for pulling the colour through and a trim (they trim my fringe free every month free).

I'd give up any other luxury than give up my salon treatments. I hate the 3rd to 4th week when my roots are starting to show through. I get all twitchy and paranoid!
