How old is too old

lou4gaz, 7 November, 2010 at 17:11 Posted on Planning 0 10

I'm getting married July 2011 and i would like to have my little brother as the page boy, he is 13 years old and was wondering is this age is too old for a page boy or is it becoming more common to have an older page boy.

Thanks

I'm not to sure what ages they normaly are but am sure he can be whatever you like as long as he is part of the wedding!

I asked my 7yr old nephew if he would like to be usher, pageboy or best man, he said best man and he would help the OH and even get him a beer when needed! he he officialy he is page boy but its cute hime telling everyone he is best man! x

I forget where I read it but page boys are under 10. BUT you can have him as a 'man of honour' and he does exactly the same job but with a more grown up title.

It took me a year to persuade my son (he'll be 13 too) to take the role!

I don't think he will be too old, my son is being my pageboy, he will be 10yrs by then, so long as hes part of the wedding party and feeling part of it I dont think it matters, and like other ppl have said, you can always give him another title x

At 13 I would ask him if he would prefer to be called an Usher or Pageboy, teenagers can be funny about titles!

Traditionally it may be too old.. but increasingly traditions are being pushed to one side. At that age it is a chance to get him to do "something very responsible" so embrace it, and find some extra duties for him

I don't think it matters really, if you want him to do a job and you'd be proud of him to do it, then do it!

I asked me nephew who will have just turned 11 when we get married if he would like to be page boy I had to explain what this meant he was really excited. He asked me when walking down the aisle was he allowed to laugh! I said not laugh but a littel smille/smirk will be ok bless him, I culdnt think of anyone else to fit this role and I know he'll do a grand job, Ill be so proud of him Smiley smile
