How realistic are long range weather forecasts? Wedding in 2 weeks.....

Spamboule, 10 October, 2008 at 19:01 Posted on Planning 0 11

I'm sure they aren't completely accurate, but it says it's going to rain on my wedding day ☹️

I know it's October and all that, but I was hoping for a lovely sunny Autumnal day. *sigh*

Aw, me too Spamboule. There's still hope. A guy at work who windsurfs a lot and uses all the long range weather forecasts and stuff says it really isn't reliable until about the day before - and even then it can be wrong.

I did go out and buy loads of umbrellas last weekend in the hope that having them will stave off the rain!

And can you believe....2 weeks?! How are you feeling about it? I think I'm ok but losing quite a bit of weight without trying - must be all the stress! I've been so busy at work though, think it's that more than the wedding tbh!

    Hello sdaisy22 ?

I think I'm doing the opposite - I'm eating for England!

I don't actually believe it's happening. I still think I've got ages to go! I'm going to hold off buying the umberellas for a wee while yet. FIngers crossed. I think I'm getting married about 10 miles from you, so we'll probably have the same weather.

Do you have much more to do? We are going to make our seating plan this weekend. I've worked out who's going where, it's just a case of putting is all together. We seem to be on top of everything, but I have a horrible feeling I've forgotten something major!

Just checked that out & it says rain with 69% confidence ☹️

Oh wel, we did plan for worst case scenario. And it could change in 15 days <fingers crossed icon>

Oh, I'm eating loads...it's amazing really, never normally happens to me. Mind you, I am quite worried all the weight will come on just before the wedding...have visions of myself sort of exploding out of my dress!

We are quite organised, going to have a weddingy weekend this weekend and get lots of things sorted, finish off photo boards and get the table boxes sorted and things like that. It's just all the little bits that take a long time to do that are a bit of a pain. Our table plan is made but I haven't put the names on yet, might leave that for next weekend in case there are any last minute changes though.

It's really silly, one of the reasons we chose October was so we wouldn't worry about the weather, we knew it'd be bad and we'd plan accordingly. But I can't help hoping for a lovely clear autumnal day. Oh well, it'll be what it'll be. I wasn't planning on getting umbrellas but then I was shopping with my mum and we saw a really nice white one (in John Lewis, I'll take it back if we don't use it), then in TKMaxx we found 3 pink ones that go really well with the bridesmaids' dresses, and then Primark had big black golf umbrellas for the ushers to have. We went a bit umbrella mad tbh, people were looking at me very strangely as I walked down the street clutching 5 umbrellas!

I feel the same as you, that it isn't really going to happen. I can't believe it's so close, H2B and I keep saying 'in 2 weeks we'll be...', 'oh, in 2 weeks...'. It's crazy!

I am too scared to check the weather forecast, im just keeping fingers crossed it will be a nice day like we have had the past 2 days.

I have been eating loads too the past 2 days, not good as I have spent the past 9 months dieting, I hope I dont balloon in the next few days .

I was thinking of purchasing the umbrellas but a little late now, will just have to go with the flow.

    V x

I checked the forecast all week before my wedding and every day it said that there would be rain between 1pm - 6pm on the saturday of my wedding (just when we would want to be outside). The day turned out beautiful, not a drop of rain fell.

Take no notice of the forecasts. Be prepared for rain in the unfortunate event that it may happen but don't stress about it, believe me it won't spoil your day, you'll be far too happy!

Keep those positive thoughts going! I'm trying not to think about it. I'm far too un-fluffy to get stressed about anything wedding related ?
