How should we pay the photographer?

Miss_G_Tobe, 28 November, 2020 at 11:47 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi all, we have found a photographer we absolutely love but the only way we can pay deposit is via bank transfer. I am fine with this but my partner is not and is very wary about doing this - we have been nearly month going back and forth on this. What are your thoughts on paying by bank transfer? And do most suppliers ask for bank transfer? Thank you in advance!

Hey, we get married next October. Every supplier that we’ve booked have requested deposit to be paid through bank transfer. However, there is no harm asking the photographer you like if there is an alternative way to pay? They can only say yes or no. I prefer to pay by bank transfer and have received invoices/receipts of payments so I have proof I paid. It’s a tough one but like I say every supplier we’ve booked have requested bank transfer. Hope that helps ☺️

I think most suppliers ask for a bank transfer? You can also ask for an invoice or some sort of confirmation and this with your wedding photography contract/agreement should be more than enough? What other payment method would you prefer over bank transfers?

Apart from a cheque any other payment options are an extra cost to the supplier.

Is it a question of loosing your money if the business gos bust. If so and they are a sole trader the business cant actually go bust because the business is the person who is financially responsible. If they refuse to refund then you should have an easy option to claim your money back. Make sure they are trustworthy - reviews - established business - proper website and not just someone selling on facebook etc. Get a proper address and phone number and receipt.

If they are a LTD company then things are different, they may have a big house, car and yacht but they are an employee of the company they own and if the ltd company go's bust any money left in the business - if any will be distributed to everyone they owe money to and top of the list is the tax man who will get his full amount with what's left - if anything will be shared out to the other creditors.

To check financial info on any ltd company just google the name along with ltd and you will find links to a gov website will all the details.
