How soon is late to the planning game?

We are literally a year away, just confirmed the date and now having 'suggestions/ prompts etc' from friends and family that I am too late to sort hair/ makeup etc.

How soon do I need to do this, especially with Christmas around the corner?

The sooner that you start booking things the wider your choice will be as suppliers get booked up, I have couples now starting to book 2026

Eight months between engagement and wedding for us and we were fine. I had a friend who got married 5 months after getting engaged. The shorter the time frame, the more flexible you might need to be - e.g. you may not be able to get your first choice of venue/caterer/photographer etc, but as long as your wedding wishlist isn't set in stone you should be fine. Although as Bill says, the earlier you book suppliers, the more choice you are likely to have.
