How soon is too soon to start planning?

Congratulations on your engagement! I'm in an extremely similar situation, got engaged in April this year and booked our venue for April 2025 a couple of months ago. We've taken a pause on booking anything else for the meantime in case we change our mind on things!
I do keep a folder on my phone of things I like, decorations, flowers, dresses, colours, all those things, but not acting on it yet or setting it in stone because we know it's so far away yet. I'd say around April/May next year we might book a couple of more things like photographer and maybe band, and then another break for a few months.
It's so difficult not to get carried away on the planning, there's so much out there, but do what's best for you!

I think I’m gonna pause on wedding planning, but will definitely continue browsing and getting ideas.
Next thing for me now I think will be a little engagement party of some sorts 🤞🏼

I got engaged in May 2021 and I’m getting married in July 2023 - I had all major things (e.g. venue, registrar, photographer and videographer, florist etc.) booked by the end of 2021. This was mainly because Suppliers increase their costs each year so wanted to secure them at the cheaper rate. All of my Suppliers said that I could wait to give my final ideas about what i wanted nearer the time so I am not worried that I will no longer want to use them
