How to ask my chief bridesmaid?!

I'm planning to ask one of my friends to be my chief bridesmaid when she comes over for dinner at the weekend - but don't want to literally just ask her. I thought I could write something on her dessert - you know how restaurants write happy birthday on a plate - that sort of thing. But can't think what to use or how to do it! Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry both a bit to twee for my taste I would just ask them while over for dinner.
