How to clean years of burnt on food off pyrex dishes - dull!

allymc, 30 April, 2009 at 08:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5

We moved in to a new house on Friday and have inherited a rather large oval pyrex dish which I like the look of with the exception of months/ years worth of burnt on food! So far I've tried soaking it in a solution of soda crystals and then overnight in a solution of biological washing powder but it hasn't budged at all! Can anyone suggest a sure fire method of shifting the gunge?

TIA ?

Sorry - but the idea of using someone elses pyrex dish with years of burnt on food turns my stomach. I bought a new, reasonable size pyrex dish in Asda this week - £2 - bargain!

Perhaps warm it up in the oven for a bit, see if the heat softens the black stuff and saok it well before scrubbing.

If it was me I think I would buy a new one though.

I'd buy a new one. But if you really want it try Fairy Powerspray. It shifts everything (including peeling the paint on my kitchen wall when I accidently over sprayed once)

Boil it up with biological washing powder, that flakes the stuff right off.
