How to time things - invites

Laura, 29 August, 2021 at 07:42 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 0 2
We get married July 2023, but we do need to get invites sorted as we are making these ourselves and both work full time.

My query is the time to put on evening invites.
We are having a Catholic nuptial mass at 1pm (I think this is about 1 hour). The church is 30 mins drive from the venue, plus I would like photos at the church. There is reception drinks of champagne and canapés, didn’t want this to go on any more than 30-45 minutes.
We are having a 4 course wedding breakfast and speeches.
Would 7 be a realistic time? To start at 7.30

I would ask your venue, the meal can take a lot longer than you think and then speeches etc can be about 3 hours all in. Your venue should give you times for eating and the you normally have 45 mins for then to turn the room around after the meal before evening guests arrive.

We're not having a church ceremony, but our day roughly plans out like this:

    12.30/12.45 - guests arrive

    1 pm civil ceremony

    1.30 pm - reception drinks

    3 pm - wedding breakfast

    5 pm - speeches

5.30 - comfort break (not sure why this is scheduled in)

6 pm - evening guests arrive

6.45 pm - cake cutting and first dance

    8 pm - evening buffet

12.30 - bar closes and carriages

Obviously a church ceremony lasts longer so factor that it and you can adjust times and the order you want to do things from there, hope this helps x
