How wide is your wedding ring? *Now with flashes*

MrsACF, 25 February, 2014 at 21:54 Posted on Planning 0 22

Have got some samples of potential wedding rings today from jeweller and struggling to decide on widths. I have quite small fingers and a 2mm band matches pretty well with my engagement ring. But when worn on its own I think it looks a bit too narrow?

3mm looks much better on its own but a bit chunky next to ER.

How did you choose yours? This is too hard! I can look at 2.5mm too which might be a good compromise.

I have quite petite hands and went with a 2mm band. It does look thin on its own but I think that it looks right on my hand, something too chunky would look silly.

I had the same problem. As I can't wear ER at work (so basically only wear it two days a week) I chose a 3mm WR as 2mm would look too narrow by itself.

I have small fingers (wedding ring is size I) and am looking at 2mm bands, anything thicker looks too clumpy. My engagement ring is also 2mm.

I have small fingers too (size I/J). Im thinking of 2mm or 2.5mm as my engagement ring is quite heavy (4-5mm).

I suppose it depends on if you plan on mainly wearing it on its own or with the engagement ring.

Mine's 4mm and I have very small fingers. ER is 2 mm but a nice sized diamond and the 4mm WR sets it off beautifully. A slimmer ring was broken up by the diamond too much. I tried a range of rings including eternity but the 4mm looked the best and really said "I'm the one", just like the dress really. I don;t know if I'll have any room for an eternity ring, if I do it will be a really slim one Smiley smile

I have fat sausage fingers (size V!!!!!!!!) and my ER is 3.5mm wide on the band but the stone is 5mm wide

I tried it on with a 2mm band and a 3mm band but they just looked lost against the ER, so the jeweller persuaded me to try a plain 4mm band.... which looks fab and fits just right (surprisingly!)

My ER is a 3mm diamond set with a stone on to so anything the same size as that and my ring sits just below my knuckle and looks daft. I've gone for a 1-2mm ring thats diamond set to match with my ring but the diamonds are next to each other without gaps like my ER. I dont plan on wearing it on its own either.

Excuse filthy ER - and these samples are silver so look a diff colour to my ER (which is platinum). The two samples are different styles - I prefer styling of the 2mm as slightly flatter

    I prefer the 2mm.

Mine is 2mm as that matched the width of my ER band.

I agree with the aboves, if it were me Id pick the 2mm, I think actually it looks nicer even without the engagement ring next to it, but it does sit really nice next to that...but like you said maybe the 2.5mm would be the perfect comprimise!

I have ordered a 2mm ring, my finger size is an 'I' so I have very small fingers and anything bigger looked silly on me and it went really nicely with my ER. I do think the 2mm ring suits you better too.

Thanks all, really helpful feedback. Emailed the jewellers and they can do a 2.5mm in the one I prefer (Slight Court) so they are sending that out as a sample to try before I have to decide. I wore the 2mm all last night and it has definitely grown on me – but I think being able to compare 2.5mm to the 2mm at the same time will help. I love how I get to keep the samples for a week and keep trying them on – so much better than 10 mins in a high street jeweller!

Really impressed with the company, great customer service so far and prices – I don’t know if you are allowed to mention companies on here so apologies if this is not allowed, but they are wedding-rings.co.uk I know there are lots of companies offering samples but have to say these have been great.
