HRML - driving to wembley stadium

22 April, 2008 at 13:51 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 14

Would you recommend driving to wembley? I've looked on the website and it says that it is a "public transport" venue, but you can park at a tube station.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

I am mightily pissed off because the friends we are going with have let us down, so i'm in " bollocks i'll just drive it" temper tantrum but don't want to say it if its a daft idea.....

Depends where you are driving from really ?
For me, no. I would rather get the tube. Actually, I would rather go to another venue but that's not what you asked ?

It's very well signposted, but I'm not sure on parking. Some places are easier than expected.

    Where are you coming from?

Parking is a complete nightmare round Wembley. Assuming you are going to a big event, I would assume the carpark there will be full very quickly.

Could you get to another station on the Metropolitan or Jubilee Line and get the tube from there? Somewhere like Stanmore, Canons Park, Queesbury on the jubilee, or Harrow-on-the-Hill, Northwick Park or West Harrow on the Met should have somewhere within 5 mins walk of the station.

Where are you driving from? If you are anywhere near the M40, park at Denham and get the fast train in. It stops at Wembley overground station and is just next to the stadium.

I think it's about 20 mins on the train, couple of quid to park at the station and a couple of quid for your fare. YOu also get the benefit of not getting stuck in traffic snarl ups that you have parking close to the station.

If you want to get close, one of the tube stations mentioned above will fit the bill.

I really wouldn't drive anywhere near Wembley. It's bad enough on non event days, i've no idea about parking though.

Eastybabe's idea is a good one. or parking at Stanmore (about 15 mins from M1) & getting tube from there

Sorry, just seen that you are coming from Leeds. Stanmore station is probably your best bet as you come down to the end of the M1.

I used to drive past this station everyday and know that there is parking but not sure how much. If you go to the tfl website you can route plan and also get a map of the area.

Justr to add, Stanmore is J4 of the M1 and quite a way from the end.

I wouldnt suggest driving straight into Wembley. My road is part of the residential parking on event days only, however i can suggest a few roads if you do decide to drive where you can park up (free and not included in residential parking) and walk to wembley!

Sorry I am going to be another one to say dont drive anywhere near Wembley, drive somewhere and get a tube.

We where there three weeks ago and it took our coach 1 1/2 hours to get out of the car park, and another 2 1/2 hours to get to Milton Keynes which is j14 of the M1.

If we where to do it again, I would drive to a tube station and get a tube in. Sooo much quicker!

We drove tot he Diana Concert at Wembley and aside from being there before the car park opened and them closing roads in an impromptu fashion. It was dead easy.
I think you can book parking in advance with the venue.

I would definitely go with the suggestions to park at Stanmore. Last time I parked there it was £2 and it's close enough to Wembley that it will only take you about 10 minutes on the tube.

I would park near the x (church) at the top of Norval Road and tkae the 182 bus in. It's about 1-2 miles from here.
