htb hump

Simone, 3 April, 2023 at 22:22 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 4
Couldn’t think of a good title so this will have to do. My HTB has got the hump a bit because I put a deposit down on hair and makeup people for the day without consulting him. My question is how much are you paying for your hair and make up/ any trials so I know if my price is ridiculous or if he just doesn’t know how expensive it actually costs to get that stuff done. Everything else I have spoken to him about it before putting deposits down, even waited to find other people that were cheaper for other parts of the day, but I don’t think I should have to consult him on what I will use for me. I will add I have 3 bridesmaids who I spoke to before so we all have the same one on the day and they are all paying for their own.

I checked with my H2B with most things before I booked them, but not with hair and makeup because he has no idea about any of that haha.
So I'm paying £430 for make up for myself, 4 bridesmaids and my mum.My hair stylist is around £450 for the same amount of people. My hair trial was £80 and my make up trial £65. I've paid for my bridesmaids as we made an agreement that they would contribute half to their dresses and I would sort hair and makeup.

Very much the same as Kirsty. HTB and I booked everything together, but make-up and hair was my choice. As with Kirsty, my girls paid half their dress cost, and my mum paid the other half, and I have covered their hair and make up. My thoughts were that if they were a guest they'd probably acquire a new outfit, so half the dress cost was reasonably what you would pay for a guest outfit anyway. Hair and Make-up getting done was something I wanted for them, it was my choice of vendors, and it would be above and beyond what a usual guest would have and pay for (usually).

My Make-up cost was £65 for trial and £120 for the day. Bridesmaids (3 women) and MotB were £70 on the day.

Hair was £25 for the trial, and £50 on the day for each of us (It is my usual hairdresser doing our hair).

I guess the question mark hovers over whether you’re paying for your HMU out of your own money, or your joint wedding fund. I paid for my dress myself and my husband had no say over it - equally he paid for his own suit. However we paid for my hair and makeup out of our joint wedding account, as he said it wasn’t fair for me to have to bear such a huge expense just because everyone’s expectations for my looks would be different to his.

So because we were jointly paying I showed him a few quotes - all of which were pretty similar - before making the decision myself. Then I just confirmed with him when the money would be going out.
