    Hi ya

The main difference is that the Humanist wedding you can have anywhere you want, there are no restrictions whilst a civil ceremony you have to have in a licensed venue. You are also restricted sometimes by the local registry as to what you can say and the number or readings you have. The cost of both are relatively the same other than you will need to pay room hire for the civil ceremony which ranges anywhere from £150 to £1000 whilst as mentioned before you can have your hunamist wedding anywhere from your front room to on top of a cliff. However, a humanist wedding isn't a legal ceremony and you will still need to perfom the legal ceremony at the local registry office. This will cost in total about £110 (£60 for you both to give notice, £40 for the ceremony and then other cost for marriage certificate etc). You can make this very short and simple with the both of you and two witnesses.

If you've got any more questions, then let me know.

Hi! I photographed a Humanist wedding once, it was fantastic! The couple had a small legal ceremony first thing in the morning with the registrar at their venue in their normal clothes and then split up to get dressed for their 'big main wedding'. They had a lady humanist celebrant who was lovely, they signed a certificate of sorts and then cracked open the champers while they signed! I LOVED this part!!!

If you can, humanist .... we had one and it was just beautiful .... its obviously absolutely non-reglious so you do have to think a bit harder about readings, music etc but I think they're fabulous!
