I can't find my Wedding Dress!

Vixano, 15 September, 2014 at 15:38 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hello!

I am getting Married in May 2015, in Spain. I have now tried on over 100 Wedding dresses (im not proud!) I just haven't fallen in love with anything.

Did anyone else struggle?

All my friends keep asking me about it and I dread when someone asks me as I just can't make a decision.

I have tried on loads of different styles and I like lots.

Any tips / advice, greatly appreciated!

xx

I'm not surprised you're confused. I tried on 5 and couldn't remember what the first one looked like when I had the 5th on. Haha!

I think you need to take a break from looking. you've probably confused yourself. Don't forget that even a dress that you're not 100% sure about can be altered and might become perfect. What's your favorite so far? Maybe post it and the runner up and see what we all think?

One of my friends tried on over 100 dresses and was so worried as she couldn't decide. She bought one in the end after her mum refused to come with her again. Apparently someone told her that she should get on with it because she would look lovely either way because she was the bride and 'all white dresses kinda look the same anyway'. A little bit harsh perhaps, but my friend said she kind of saw the ladies point after the wedding.

Most dresses are beautiful and you'll look lovely as you'r the bride and you'll be happy. Don't over think it.

Was there anything that particularly stood out, as in you liked one style more than the other or hated one particular style? Maybe you have looked at that many you have gone a bit "blind" to them all so to speak.

You could just go for one off the highstreet, I know places like john lewis, coast and monsoon, do some really lovely ones.

It might help if you think about what 'theme' or feel you want your day to have. Even though it is abroad it can still have a theme. Relaxed, glamorous, vintage etc. Also think about weight and heat of a dress. Some can be quite difficult to wear abroad which is why there are specific 'destination dresses'.

if it helps I never had 'the one' feeling. I tried on loads, liked a few but didn't have the omg moment. I bought the one which fits with my uber glam theme and have had a few wobbles but still happy with it.

I was the same. I tried on over 100 dresses in 10+ shops. I went back and tried on 5 dresses twice and two of those a third time. But could not commit to any of them. I finally found my dress in the bridal shop just down the road from me when I popped in one lunchtime. I would never have even tried it on, but the lady said she thought it would suit me. And I loved it. I showed my mum and she said it was exactlywhat she pictured me in when I first described what I wanted before trying any on. So my advice is to keep going and let staff pick you some options. Also try going on your own so your not swayed by other peoples opinions.

Thank you lovely ladies for your thoughtful replies, I really appreciate it. You have made me feel better. It is beginning to get me down to be honest.

It is good to hear I am not alone!! Halloweney your friend and sweetlikechocloate - you!

Cinnamon009- I am thinking that "feeling" just does not exist!!!

There have been a couple of close contenders. But nothing I am certain on. Now like you've said I am massively confused and actually don't even know what I really want!

My Mum, friends and Fiance are really loosing patience with me.

I sometimes have a quirky fashion sense and loads of people have said to me " I can't wait to see your Wedding dress, its going to be really different and funky"

Im thinking ahhhhhhh!!! I don't know if I do want something "funky" I might go more classic!

I would love to go into a shop and the staff take control of me and direct me into my wedding dress. But Ive never had that! They always say have a look around and choose what you like. I need direction!!!!

Thanks again for all of your replies. I do appreciate it. xxxx

Have you been on your own? As it can be easier not having 10 different people's opinions. I did it a couple of times and it is easier.

Don't worry about what anyone else thinks or expects you to have. If you want classic then go classic. It's you that has to be happy with the dress.

Ask the shop ladies to suggest something. They're usually pretty good at suggesting if you ask for help.

Can you have a break for a bit and go back to it? Have you got any pictures you can show us?
