I can't find what my tyre pressures should be - can anyone help?

Doughnut, 11 October, 2008 at 19:12 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 19

I've looked on Google and I just can't find it. It's not on the car in the usual places and number plate search is no help as my car doesn't have the standard wheels on it. Argh! Does anyone know where I can find it? Sounds like a stupid question but I'm at the end of my tether! Tyres are Dunlop 255/35/ZR18. Thank yoooou.

What are you calling the 'usual' places? Mine are on the edge of the driver's door and in the owner's handbook.

Your user manual should have a list for all the tyres suitable for your car, H says if its not on the list it might be that those tyres shouldnt be on the car, but he's not an expert so you will probably need to speak to whoever sold you the tyres

My tyre pressure figures are in the little flap that you open to put in the diesel/petrol. Have you looked in there?

Yes they are in those places but my tyres aren't listed as I haven't got the original wheels. The tyres are right for these wheels. I've got M3 alloys on a normal BMW E46

Glider - I still have the Golf but don't want to drive it out tonight as I'm going out 40 miles away and have no breakdown cover for it and the locks don't work all the time ?

The Kwik Fit website is FAB for this - you just type in your reg no, and it tells you! Ace! https://www.kwik-fit.com/tyres/information/tyre-pressure-search

My wheels are not standard for this model of car so the tyres are not listed for my reg.

The wheels came with the car.

Hmmm....I assumed that sort of info came from DVLA/insurance company, who had to be made aware of any modifications. My mistake, sorry.

    Thanks for all the replies.

CW, they're standard BMW wheels so not sure they count as a modification? I wonder if I should report them or something now ?

Thank you! I did 100 miles yesterday with 25 in each and they seem fine. They always look flat to me but I know they're not. They're bloody expensive though and I don't want to ruin them! It sounds ridiculous but I really can't find the info anywhere. My sister's boyfriend has the same wheels but rather inconveniently they are 'on a break' so I can't ask him! ?

Some air machines have the tyre pressures on them... I cant remember if it lists them by tyre type or pressure though

I can't give you the answer, but 25 sounds a tad low to me. If in doubt I'd probably go to about 28 to 30.

I'd definitely say 25 was low....my teeny tiny Ford Ka with its roller skate wheels takes 26 on the front, 30 on the back!

    Hi Doughnut,

My H2B says 25 is def too low, for the wheels on the car he would keep them around 30-32 psi x
