I think I've just found THE corset!

judeclarke, 6 March, 2011 at 17:59 Posted on Planning 0 15

I've been searching for just the right corset for over a year, and I haven't been able to find anything that fits all my requirements. Until now!

I want this one in red. I've e-mailed the supplier to check that they will do it in a custom fit for me, I'm just hoping they can do it mail order - I'm in Kent and they're baed in Liverpool!

Don't laugh, it's from Booby Trapp!

And I've just heard back - on a Sunday evening no less - that they can do it all via e-mail and phone for me!

For my wedding outfit of course!

OK for those who missed out - I am wearing a corset and skirt in red rather than a traditional wedding dress for 2 reasons:

    1. I've never be seen dead in white/ivory (or beige, pink, purple etc)

    2. I object to spending £1000s on a traditional wedding dress I'll only wear once, so I'm having separates I'll wear again for other occasions.

Oooo like that a lot, is the frilly skirt bit part of it, and if so will that be going over your skirt?

The metal boning in it certainly sounds robust! Can you sit down & bend in such a corset? I'd like to try one under my dress & see if I can loose a few inches around the waist & hips. Beauty before movement & being able to breath- lol

I have a few Booby Trapp corsets and I love them. Really good value for money and all custom. There is a Travelodge just down the road (about 5 minute drive) from their unit, I think it's travelodge Stoneycroft. Hope that saves you some money!

Such a corset would require a few months of acclimatisation if you're not already a regular corset wearer. You can't really bend as such, you can lean and crouch, or sit very straight. Old-fashioned Victorian corsets caused the wearer to faint on a regular basis, and caused ladies ribs to actually bend after years of wear. I can get 6 inches off my waist in my best corset currently, but I can't yawn in it. I'm aiming for a comfortable 2-3 inches for my wedding corset so I can breathe and eat. 'Fashion' corsets have plastic bones and will nip you in an inch, and smooth out the lumps.

So not for the faint-hearted, and not really for the uninitiated for under a wedding dress unless you're willing to be squeezed in for an hour a day for 3 or 4 months to get used to it!

Very interesting. I should have started wearing one last year as my weddings only in 4 weeks! Am sure it will look stunning.
