Ideas for nice venues in Kent for £5000.

KittyKat21, 24 July, 2008 at 19:38 Posted on Planning 0 13

I need to find a nice venue in Kent for my wedding that comes in under 5 grand for the venue hire breakfast package and drinks package for 55 people. I've found some lovely places in Essex but want to look a bit closer to home first.

So far I've got Quex House, but I need more ideas. I'm looking for manor houses or mansions that still have their classic charm. Preferably around maidstone or nearby.

Any Ideas anyone?

    Hi KittyKat,

Cooling Castle Barn looks lovely and a friend got married there and said it was beautiful. Not sure on costs but I reckon you could get it in budget.

Where are you from and when's the big day? I'm a kent girl so I'll rack my brains for you!

I can highly recommend the following ( not manor houses but really lovely hotels):

    https://grand-uk.com/Weddings.htm

    https://www.theburlingtonhotel.com/welcome.htm

Both are beautiful hotels with stunning gardens...food's excellent too!

Cooling Castle Barn is lovely (getting married there next week ? so am slightly biased ) but it is more than your budget for a Saturday wedding, but could possibly be on budget if you chose a weekday? Also its not a manor house, they are barns so perhaps not to your taste either?

These come up on the hitched directory for Maidstone??

i am getting married at the brandshatch place hotel - your budget might not stretch to a saturday, but you might be able to do some negotiating for a midweek wedding?

have you looked at kits coty in aylesford? i know it's not a manor house but their website shows loads of pics with beautiful views.

if none of these are any good, i think this month's 'your kent wedding' magazine has got suggestions of where to get married nr maidstone.

(ps if you are considering getting married at cooling castle barn, you will need to discount saturdays next summer as a potential date - when i was looking to book in early june i was told there were no saturday dates available from may to sept!!!)

    good luck!

I'm in walderslade, and looking to get married in October 2009. Saturday preferably but friday will do.

I LOVE The Lawn in essex but my partner wants me to look a bit closer to home first. So far the Commisioners house in Chatham is nice, but the wedding breakfast is in a marquee, which I don't want. so that's my main problem is that some of these houses aren't big enough to have the breakfast inside so have a marquee in the grounds.

I've looked more into Quex House and so far it's swaying me as they seem to be very flexible. but there aren't many potos online so i'll have to pop along for a visit to shortlist it or not. I wish venues would all just put their prices and lots of pics online so we can shortlist without having to go along to every place.

Ooh get me! ranting already lol!!!

    Hiya ?

i live in medway but am getting married in maidstone in april 2010. We are having our ceremony in Archbishops palace and our wedding breakfast and evening reception here www.larkfieldpriory.com

They hold ceremonies there as well, but only for a maximum of 80 guests - and we have more seeing us get wed than coming to the wedding breakfast. We have hired the resturant and conservatory for exclusive use adn the max you can seat comfortably in the diningroom is a top table of 8 or ten and 6 round tables of 6. Nice and easy number to have your closest friends and family but not to have to invite the aunts you haven't seen for 20yrs ?

They charge per head from the menu - and we are able to provide 56 people with a 3 course meal with coffee, a glass of sparkling wine each, put 2 bottles of wine on each table and have a buffet for 50 in the evening for under £4000.

HI Thanks all, I'm hoping that I'm going to be able to have The Lawn in Essex and hire a coach for everyone to get there, although it's not far, it is for people who want to have a drink so, if I can find a coach that will take 50 odd people to Essex and back for the day, then that's what I'll be doing, should hopefully not be too much either.

I got married at Abbots Barton Hotel which is in Canterbury - website is www.abbotsbartonhotel.com although it doesn't do it justice. It was a fantastic day and the coordinator couldn't do enough for us, she's lovely.
