If money was no object, would you have plastic surgery?

luckylola, 20 of September of 2011 at 23:52 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 56

Following on from the Claire Richards- Slave to food post, if money was no object, would you have plastic surgery?

If I am honest, my answer would be yes! I would have lipo on my tummy and legs if I could.... I am now a size 12, but was a size 10. I believe I was more happy at a size 10.

Anyone else?

I've had my boobs done. After 2 kids they were just awful and I'd lost a load of weight after my divorce so I thought its now or never. I have never regretted it for a second and because I have big hips they kind of balance out my body.

I have botox too so am of the mind set that as long as you do your research then go for it.

I would have my eye bags done in a flash but my H2B is not keen surgery for these sorts of purpose (although he loves my boobs!) so it probably won't happen.

If i looked into it and wasnt too risky - i have no idea what is involved, i would consider lipo. Although saying that if i had that much money i could hire a personal trainer i suppose?

Only if I was involved in an accident that disfigured me.

I wouldn't touch plastic surgery or botox - the idea of injectiing my face with poison and fillers doesn't appeal to me. In the future there could be practically a whole generation of people walking round with side effects of doing this and I won't be one of them.

Also, there is always the fear that you'd 'overegg the pudding' and end up looking like Kylie Minogue or Nicole Kidman.

What is wrong with growing older? Hasn't done Annie Lennox any harm:

I was agreeing wtih you til the big about Kylie and Nicole - I like them both and think they're pretty ? Don't want to end up like Lesley Ash though.
And poor Colin Hendry's wife died from complications caused during a botched lyposuction wasn't it? Didn't they perforate her bowel then she was poisoned and in and out of comas for about a year before dying?

So thats a no from me then. Plus my OH told me lypo can leave you with deep bruising for up to a year! yuck!!

I would definitely give it some thought. I HAVE given it some thought but I think actually doing something and thinking about/wishing for it are completely different.

I would balance my figure with lipo on my hips/bum and thighs, then have breast implants (not much bigger, maybe a C cup).

I don't think I would mess with my face, my Mum had botox and fillers a few years back and she just looked a bit strange. It made her eyebrows go all pointy.

I agree with what's been said about the likes of Kylie, she just looks a mess these days, as does Madonna.

Other people though, for instance Anne Robinson, seem to have got it just right and look fresher without looking ridiculous. I'd be tempted to have a chemical peel when I'm older. I've got scarring and pigment on my face which I would love to be rid of, but foundation is fine for now. I had 6 clinical peels before the wedding and TBH they didn't make a scrap of difference.

    Would get chuffing loads done.

Desperate to get botox done, my boobs made bigger, ear lobes reduced (!) and a nose job. I go to the gym four times a week so hopefully soon will have no need for weight loss surgery or lipo.

Not really plastic surgery, but would love to have laser hair removal on all necessary areas too.

    Hell yes!!!

    I'd have;

    Breast Reduction

    Tummy Tuck

Lipo on my tummy, arse, hips and thighs

A lip filler in my top lip

    Botox

Nose job - I HATE my nose

Oh I forgot, I would also get my teeth done. After a breast reduction that is top of my list.

I'd like to get my teeth whitened too. Mind you, the Colgate whitening strips are really very good.

    Hell yes.

OH is paying for me to get my boobs done just before my 30th birthday. 3 pregnancies have taken their toll, and as we're planning another, I can see them getting a lot worse.

I'd also get my teeth done. My sister chipped my front teeth by throwing scissors at me (clever, hey?!), and i've been self concious about them for years.

Once i've finished popping kids out, i'll get my mummy tummy chopped off too.

Oh one more thing to add, I said no, but I'd like to reconsider. In the event that I lose the 7 stone I need to then I have to face the reality that my body might be a bit worse for wear. Then I *probably* would need to seriously consider surgery to resolve that. The chances of me affording it are (if you pardon the pun) slim. LOL

Speaking of which this reminds me of an article I read in a mag last week, a woman was 40 stone and desperate to lose weight for her sons wedding, she went to a doctor begging for a gastric band op and was told yes she'd be put down for one on the NHS (none of the trying to diet first and what not that I've always heard you need to do) and she got the op and the doctor said this: 'You're a lucky lady, if we hadn't done the op now you'd have been dead by Christmas'

She shed a load of weight and got to looking fairly slim but was left with loads of loose skin and looked a mess when naked. So she decides she's not happy with this, she wants the loose skin removed. On the NHS. Dr says along the lines of 'No sorry we can't give you that on the NHS, you'll need to save up 4grand and buy it yourself'

Woman is RAGING with NHS. She writes into said mag and basically in the interview says she did save up, she did get the op, she is now more or less happy but says words to the effect of 'Beware to anyone thinking of getting the gastic band, losing weight won't necessarily be as great as you think'

Hello! You're alive now instead of dead as the doctor told you!! Thats pretty great. Ungrateful much??!

I don't see why she should have got both gastric band and skin removal both on NHS, I'm of the opinion the GB should be a last resort anyway and am quite happy to pay my way on Slimming World.

Seconding the white strips! I used to use them a couple of years back and everyone used to compliment me on how white my teeth were. I have a box I need to start using but I get chronic sensitive teeth! I will just have to use sensodyne. Smiley amazing

I had a chemical peel about 6 weeks ago (forgot about that) it really freshened things up but I peeled like crazy for 10 days! I can't wait for another one but I am having a mole removed on my face next week so I can't for now.

I think any 'home improvements' as long as they are properly researched will only make you feel better about yourself.

Re the Lesley Ash thing, she had a 'new' filler that had micro beads in it so it couldn't break down. Normal fillers don't have that so will break down eventually, although that said I had Restylane in my top lip 4 years ago and there is still some there now! I am pleased about that though Smiley smile

My boobs look that natural that my parents still haven't noticed them and I ended up 30G from 30A. I didn't have particularly big implants but I have a small frame so they are big on me.

For those who've used the Colgate strips - are they readily available in Boots etc? I'd love to get my teeth whitened, but couldn't justify the ridiculous price my dentist was quoting!

I'd need an assurance that safety was not an issue before I had plastic surgery. I have small boobs and a big bum, so I'd like to balance myself out a bit more. I used to be hugely self conscious of my small chest, but now I've got used to it it doesn't bother me as much, although I'd like to be able to wear certain dresses that I can't now. I've just seen so many horror stories about boob jobs gone wrong so that is almost more important to me than the money.

I did have my ears pinned back when I was little, so I've already had plastic surgery of sorts.

    I would. My wishlist includes:

Tummy tuck/liposuction to repair the damage done by a C-section.

Boob job to repair the damage done by breastfeeding.

Lipo on my chin - I have a double chin that wouldn't go even when I lost half a ton of weight, so I'd like my jawline tightened.

Mole removal - half a dozen little annoying ones.

I'd consider lip filler too, and maybe botox somewhere down the line.

I got mine on the Bay of E. I think Red Barry did too. They are super and only about £20 for 2 weeks worth of strips.

Me too. The ones I got are the Crest strips.

I don't think you can buy them in the UK. A friend of mine had hers professionally whitened by her dentist and the results I got were better and cost a fraction of what she paid.

They are strips you put on your teeth. They pretty much just cover the front visible ones.

Leave them on for half an hour and over a few days you see your teeth get whiter.

I tend to do them every other day otherwise I get too sensitive.

    I think I would yes:

Breast reduction top of the list - I'd love to be able to wear little tops without looking like a second rate porn star.

Tummy tuck or liposuction - despite trying really hard to lose weight it never comes of my tummy. Never. But where's the first place it goes on?

Because of my big boobs, big tummy but skinny legs I'm very top heavy - kind of like an upside down weeble.

Invisible brace - I had a brace as a child but it was removable and I didn't wear it properly. And I refused to get bottom braces. I was a moron.

    Teeth whitening

Can anyone post a link for the whitening strips? - definitely need to try them!

I used them before my wedding, dead easy, you just peel the strips off and put them directly onto your teeth. They've got a gel on to whiten. I only did it once for an hour and def noticed the difference. Feels a bit odd at first but you soon get used to them

Oh and to answer the OP - at the moment no I wouldn't. I had fillers in my lips years ago and liked the look of them but it was pricey to keep up and as I've got older I'm not so bothered about my top lip being a bit thinner.

In the future? Who knows. Depends how well I age and how I look after having kids but i'm not anti surgery at all.

The only thing I would ever consider having done out for vanity's sake would be my teeth.

I wouldn't consider having any other surgery. Having had it as a necessity twice before there is no way I would put my body (or my family) through the risks of a GA or other complications. I am who I am and intend to grow old disgracefully.

    Not sure if I would..

A girl at work has just had her boobs done, they are very Jordon like now considering she is tiny.. They have really put me off..

I would never say never but maybe when everything goes south I would have to re evaluate!

I defininely would! Top of my list is liposuction on the stomach, bum and thighs. Also, I have a very unsightly birthmark and would love to get rid of that. Love my boobs, so nobody's getting hold of them (although they might need a slight lift in a few years)! Maybe lip fillers, but nothing else on my face. And some teeth whitening, just because I can.

That'll about do it for now. I'm off to Google prices!
