I'm going to a 'Good Life' fancy dress as Barbara - what shall I wear?

Sparkley, 10 of July of 2009 at 15:01 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 13

Most people are going at Margot and Jerry, so MrG and I want to go as Tom and Barbara ?

I have left it really last minute, (the party is tomorrow!) and have no idea what to wear. I have wellies.......... and that's it!! I wanted to get some dungarees, but can't find any anywhere.

I need your help!!!!!!!!!!

    Think beige.

    Think cardigans.

I think you could probably get away with a dirty oversized mans shirt and a baggy ol' pair of jeans with wellies.

Unfortunately most of the photo's I can find are from the same photoshoot (above) so the clothes haven't changed just the pose.

Was just about to post that same pic tahdah.

Oversized men's shirt would be really easy, or a grandad *** (the collarless ones?) with a huge baggy cardy. Don't forget your garden fork too. Smiley smile

I had a quick google of Barbara Good Life and it came up with a pic of her wearing what looks like Tom's shirt and a pair of jeans tucked into some wellies - might that work?

Not sure if the pic worked, but I thought it might be easier to copy a pic!

Didn't she also used to wear a tabard sometimes?

Also could smear mud on your face (or something less dirty, like chocolate lol) and wear a headscarf?

Given more time I'd have made up a patchwork maxi dress like the one she wore in an episode when all of her "good" clothes had holes etc.

I think the baggy shirt, jeans, wellies and gardening implement will be good!!!

Ideally those dungarees made out of two different pairs of trousers - one beige one orange. Failing that, some good advice above. She also wears giant glasses sometimes.

A Good Life party? Surely you can only go as one of 4 characters? How about going as a pig, or a carrot for a bit of variety?

Will there be 1970s esque food at the party? like avocado and prawns, and vol au vents galore?

Make sure you tie your hair back like she does too - it's the little details that make all the difference!
