I'm going to be a pregnant bride....in 4 weeks time!

Aquiescence*, 13 March, 2015 at 09:44 Posted on Planning 0 33

Hey all

I have just found put I am pregnant - I will be around 9 weeks gone on the big day!

We have been trying for years and were due to start IVF in May. We are totally surprised as we had given up hope of it ever happening naturally. The thing that they say - if you stop trying it'll happen - seems to have come true. I have been told I have an increased risk of an ectopic pregnancy so will be having an early scan next week - so we are not getting excited yet.

I remember there have been some threads on here previously about being a pregnant bride, but has anyone got any tips on survival?! I hope I won't be showing but my boobs are already getting huge so am a little worried about the dress. I will also want to keep it quiet so will have to pretend to drink!

I still have various things to do so the main thing is going to be keeping stress levels under control and getting enough rest I think

xxx

    Oh how lovely, congratulations.

My friend was about 13 weeks pregnant at her wedding and she was still experiencing horrid morning sickness and she got tired quite quickly but other than that she was fine. We all knew though as she was past the 12 week point so she didn't have to hide it.

With regards to the alcohol, maybe just tell people that you want to keep a clear head and remember the day rather than end up a bit tipsy! A glass of champagne won't hurt though so you should be fine to toast the speeches.

Aww, how wonderful, got everything crossed for your scan next week, let us know how it goes won't you! I don't have babies so can't help much, but the alcohol thing shouldn't be too hard to sidestep, just tell people you needed something to cool down, or you were thirsty, or you want to keep a clear head and remember your day or not hurt tomorrow, plenty of excuses Smiley smile I barely drank on my day. Completely agree that you want to try and stay calm, don't let the little things fluster you. If you get sick, just tell people it's nervous excitement.

    Hey hun congratulations!!

As a warning at 9 weeks I was shattered and suffering morning sickness :/

However you'll have the most amazing little thing and you won't care! Are you keeping it a secret till 12 weeks or will you use the wedding to announce?

That's really lovely news - congratulations! You certainly won't be showing by then, although your boobs may get extremely tender which might be something to bear in mind if you're going to be really strapped in to it - but then that might prove be a good thing on the day.

I had to do something similar at a work dinner before I was at the 12 week mark. I accepted wine and just left it next to me at the table. I think I took a few 'barely there' sips, but honestly no one noticed, especially as they were ploughing through it! You will be fine to have a few sips at toasting and then later you've got the perfect excuse of being too busy mingling, dancing, wanting to remember it all. The tiredness is a bit of a killer, but I think the buzz of the day will keep you going.

Congrats! Just what everyone has said really, boobs and possible sickness.

On the boobs side get yourself re-measured the week before - just to check. The correct bra size will help.

Cant suggest anything for morning sickness sorry, had this with both mine.

Half a glass of bubbles to toast will not hurt you.

    Good luck!

Congratulations! What a lovely surprise for you!

I barely drank on my wedding day, just pints of water as I was so hot!

On the boobs front I'd check how much room you've got in your dress just in case as they can get massive. You may also be bloated rather than having a bump.

    Congratulations again!

Congratulations! Boobs and sickness will be your main worries as the others have said, but I doubt very much you will show at 9 weeks. With my first baby, I was at least 16 weeks before anyone noticed a bump at all!

Antibiotics are always a great excuse if you don't want to drink, as are painkillers and a slight headache - but I wouldn't say a word unless someone asks why you're not drinking. Chances are they will guess, but that means nothing unless you confirm it ?

    Congratulations, how exciting!

We are not trying to conceive yet but I am also mentally preparing myself that it will take us longer or that we will need medical help as I have PCOS. I can imagine how happy you must be, hope all goes well at the scan!

Oh amazing news! Congratulations. Good luck for your scan next week.

a glass of bubbly won't harm the baby at all (trust me, I'm a midwife ?) so have one then if anyone asks, you want to be sober to remember everything Smiley winking

Good news for you! No tips as I've never been pregnant and never intend to be but that doesn't mean I can't be happy for those who want to and do!

Health and happiness! All the best wishes for your growing family.

    Congratulations, how exciting for you!

Just have glass of wine on the table, no one will notice if you're drinking it or not. In the evening just have a coke and say there's a rum in it Smiley winking As soon as you say you're not drinking (for whatever reason) people get suspicious. It's happened to me!

Congratulations!! I'm going to be exactly 8 months pregnant on my wedding day in July. I suffered badly with morning sickness in the first trimester so my advice would be to drink lots of water to stay hydrated, ginger biscuits on hand if you do feel sick but hopefully you should actually feel great and not showing too much. I had to sell my dress and get a maternity one which sucks but I don't think you'd struggle wearing anything you like at that early stage. Sore boobs etc can easily be ignored when you're distracted having a great wedding day! Just enjoy it!

    Thanks all ?

Mrs G, sorry to hear you had to sell your dress but it will all be worth it and I'm sure you will be glowing!

I have been feeling nauseous but not bad at all but plenty of time for that. My dress is currently with the dressmaker so I'm going to email her and ask her if she wants to hold off the alterations for another couple of weeks.

I went for the scan yesterday instead of next week and at only 5 weeks they were able to see what they needed to and confirmed it was all ok and in the right place! So relieved ?

Congratulations! We got married last September and I was 7 weeks pregnant. Boobs etc weren't an issue as I wasn't showing at all but I did feel very sick all day. But we announced it to the day guests which was amazing.

Ah crazyratlady it was you who I remembered posting about this before. Ah that is nice you announced it, we have thought about it but probably won't do....but it is tempting, it would be so amazing in the groom's speech! Hope your pregnancy is coming along well, not long to go for you now! xx

The announcement was amazing, it was early days but it was to close friends and family. Either way you will know your baby is there on your day and that is a great feeling. I've got 6 weeks to go now, feeling huge! x

    Congratulations!!

When i was suffering from sickness i carried a couple ginger biscuits with me everywhere i went and if i was feeling sickly i'd have a few bites and it would really help.
As for boobs - i'd say support them the best you can, haha
