Bless you, the waiting is always worse than the actual event. Just think that in a few hours it will all be over, and you are obviously having it done to try and benefit you in the long run. People have it done every day, you will be fine. Good luck and you will be back on here later saying it was fine, I bet!

I really feel that I've had my fair share of crap! First it was my back, and now my gallbladder. They're doing the scope to see if there is anything else causing my pain. as there were no 'clear' stones identified on my ultra sound scan, just 'sludge' (yes, that is a techinical term, lol) and an 'unhappy' gallbladder!

Well just think how brilliant it would be if they did manage to find out what it is and make you feel better. Thinking of you xx And please update as I may have to have this soon!

Oh poor you. I had this done a couple of years ago as I had been having stomach pains. They didn't find anything and thankfully since losing weight I haven't had any more stomach pains. Hope it goes ok.

I had this done last week (and one up my bum) and I was just terrified. I have never been in hospital for anything, and I was so scared about being "admitted", sedation, being taken to theatre etc etc......and it was all absolutely fine.

If you are having full sedation, then I promise you that you will feel and remember nothing - if you are not, maybe ask for it. Its great (and it means you get to lie in bed for a few hours afterwards).

I'm going back into hopital tomorrow for about 2 weeks to have major surgery (half my liver removed due to a tumour) and having the endoscopies was a great trial run for tomorrow (although I cant believe I'll feel as great as I did afterwards).

    Good luck for today

HI Ruth, good luck today, it's not very pleasant but it's over before you know it!

I had the same as you, they couldn't find any stones just a thick wall and sludge, after I had the camera down my throat and up the bottom (not the same one ?) they said I had a hiatus hernia, however after going back and seeing the consultant she says it maybe my gallbladder, the thick wall and sludge can cause the same symptoms.

Anyway, I'm waffling, have a ? for later and let us know how you get on, take care x

Well I'm 15 weeks pregnant now, so they don't want to do anything, I have to go back next May, she said it is likely to get worse through my pregnancy though.

A bit peed off that they didn't just know it was my gallbladder when I went last September as I could have had it out (not that I really want the op) and I wouldn't still be suffering, ha ho!

I had this done last year, which showed that I had a Hiatus Hernia

I also had gall stones, so gall bladder was removed

Good luck - you'll be fine

Nothing - I have some medication Lansaprozole that I take daily to stop the acid indegestion

They said they could operate, but I spoke to someone who had had it done and said he would rather take a tablet every day instead of having it done, so I decided to stick with that for now - unless it gets loads worse and I have to increase my medication too much

Hi all, I'm back home now. I fought like billy-o ? even though I was sedated. It was horrible. I've a hiatus hernia and duodenitis and flat erosions in the bulb (any ideas???)

It was horrible and I never want to have it done again!

No ideas sorry but well done for getting it over and done with. And you have just re-affirmed my decision, I never want to have it done and will try and control my symptoms! I didn't want to say that this morning!!!!

    Look after yourself tonight

Waaaaah, no, although they did have to hold me down. Twunts indeed! I'm so glad it's over, although I did feel violated, especially with the gagging device!

Glad it's all over and done with, the gagging is horrible but didn't want to say that this morning!

I know about the Hernia but have no idea about the other stuff, did they give you any info to read up on?

I took the drugs when I got mine done. They weren't pleased as they obviously wanted me in and out as quickly as possible; some cheeky comment was made about me taking up a bed. But I am glad I did as i don't remember a thing.
