teeheeyoucrazyguys!

I'm having a wee panic...

teeheeyoucrazyguys!, 30 March, 2009 at 20:34 Posted on Planning 0 17

I'm going for my hair trial in a few weeks time and I've been very particular about what I would like; handing in photographs of various updo's, showing my hair comb and explaining where it needs to be worn and my hair dresser breifly described to me finger waves and a side bun. Finger waves are 1920s/30s and a side bun is not suitable for my comb. I'm worried I wont like what she creates and how do I tell her I dont like it?? To ''add insult to injury'' (not the right phrase im after but....) the rest of the salon keep raving about my 60s look! any advice on how i handle this if it all goes pear shaped? I cant pretend I like it......

Don't pretend you like it. You're paying for this trial (presumably) so make it clear what you want. Take in a photo and tell her that THIS is what you want. Be assertive!

BTW - can we see what you have in mind? I already have a picture in my head of what your hair will look like and I want to see if it matches!

I had visions of you having a 1940's half up do if that makes sense. Something like this perhaps:

But I like the up-do just as much. I can't see that it would be particulary difficult or complicated from a hairdresser's point of view.

You got to tell them straight, its your hair and your day!

i work as a stylist and i'd rather be told straight.

Thanks for that MrsG2b... shes been my hair dresser for the last 5 months, shes even coming to the do so I dont want to upset her, shes been putting a bit of thought into it and its the talk of the salon! Hopefully my BM can back me up on the trial too.

I just told my hairdresser I didn't like it! It's the only time I've ever been vocal in a hairdressers but it is very important you are happy so not point in pretending. Nothing wrong in saying 'well it's not quite right so can we try something else'. That way you aren't being nasty about her work but explaining it isn't good enough.

I had a second hair trial last week and my hairdresser tried a more intricate and elaborate version of what I had had done at my first trial. When she asked me which I preferred I was a bit embarrassed but admitted that I preferred the first one and she agreed!

Are you wearing socks Nona? If so, they need pulling up. Sharpish.

You're paying her, right? Its your wedding, your style and your bloody hair. Whether she, or any of the others in the hairdressers don't like it, then tough buggery to them. As long as its what you want, its none of her beeswax. If you no likey, you tell lady hairdresser woman just that. If not, then I'll bloody well do it for you! ?

Is there a waggy finger icon on here somewhere?!

As you can see, i've moved on from my usual method of being blunt. Is it working??

    Cool...

I meant not sure what's happening, as in...don't know what it would look like from the front, only a good side photo.

I'm always a bit weary about telling a hairdresser that I don't like what they have done, can remember plain as day that one left me looking like shirley temple and when I walked out of the salon I put my hair up in a bun ruining her "good work".

This hairstyle isn't just any hairstyle, it's for your wedding day, just ask her if she wouldn't mind trying some of your ideas first and if you don't like any of them then she is free to try her ideas out ?
