I can't speak from experience but there are import tax calculators online where you put in details regarding what you are buying, how much it is worth and where it is coming from and it will give you an estimate of how much you can expect to pay...

The carrier also takes a handling fee so generally I estimate 30% in total plus postage which with tracked carrier like UPS is up to $60. However the exchange rate is quite good at the moment. Don't forget US sizing is very different too

I got my wedding dress from David's Bridal in America and had it shipped here. Below is the break down of what I paid

Dress price £350.26

Duties and taxes £108.78

Shipping £35.90

TOTAL £459.91

I didn't think that was bad at all.
