Inflamed spot - help!

RedKitchie, 30 of July of 2013 at 22:20 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 29

I have a cystic spot, deep under the skin but inflamed and big. No head to squeeze yet. What can I do? I have 3 days til the wedding. I know this is wedding related but think I'll get the advice I need in OT.

Can I stick a needle in and try to expel the nasties?

Go to the doctors and get anti-biotics injected into it? Or get them to syringe the evil thing?

I am putting freederm on to reduce swelling but it is too deep for topical treatments.

Iam so pleased I have a mua now'

I wouldn't go near it if I were you! I hav ebeen having an on going battle with my skin and honestly leaving it and sudocrem over night will help take it down, if you go routing you will bruise and make it worse it will feel MASSIVE to you but if it hasn't surfaced chances are no on else would even see it.

I am not sure what the doctor would do to be honest. I am sure you will be fine lovely, MUA are magicians as far as I am concerned Smiley smile

    This!

Do not touch. Keep it clean, at most whack some sudocrem on it.

Sudocrem is magic. Another vote for that.

Take it from an acne sufferer and DON'T MESS WITH IT. It'll only get angrier. I know this from experience and always leave the big cysts alone and they go down by themselves.

I know you're all right. I get these about twice a year and usually leave well alone. It is big and red so very obvious and sore. Will give sudocrem a go. Just hoping it reduces in size by Saturday. ?

I agree with the others. If you had two weeks to go, I'd recommend sticking it with a needle. But with three days, I think your best bet is to try to combat the inflammation and keep it hidden. If it does come to a head, I'd get rid if it and wear Compeed patches 24/7 to force it to heal.

Sudocreme is the bed as it contains zinc that will bring down the redness. Don't touch without washing your hands either. An ice cube will freeze it so it less painful and you are less likely to fiddle with it.

Get some of that green make up base to cover it.

The spot has been submerged under sudocrem all day. How can it have not changed for 3 days? What is wrong with it?

Just remember a red lump can be hidden well, a crusty, weepy scab cannot. I agree with the others, leave it be.

Even if it is still there in two days time, your make up artist will work her magic.

My woe continues. It is starting to take over my chin. My MUA will have to be actually magic to help with this one. ☹️

Crush up some aspirin and make a paste out of it with water then apply to the area (as log as you're not allergic to aspirin) it'll reduce the redness and swelling. Then MUA can cover it & no one will know!!

I use the bareminerals blemish powder to reduce spots like this. It's about £15 and I tend to notice a difference overnight. I always use it straight away though so I am not sure how much use it will do on a spot that has been around for a few days... I am sure that the MUA will have some fantastic products to cover it up though.

If it's a sebaceous cyst then apply a heat pack to it, for 10 minutes a couple of times a day - not too hot though as this can cause infection. It helps to melt everything inside (nice!!) and I think it can then pass through the cyst wall or something like that. Also worth trying some topical ibuprofen gel to take the swelling down. I used to get these quite a lot and both of the above were the only things that helped!!!

Give it a name (I suggest Brian) and send it a wedding invitation.

Thank you for all your help!

I went to the doctor and she squeezed it so it is slightly smaller. She gave me anti-b and a cream but will just have to accept that 'Brian' (ha ha) will be sharing my wedding day. At least it's on the left side of my face so away from OH and congregation during vows!

Off to press a hot flannel on my spot and then get married. Woop!

The make-up artist was a genius! Brian was very hidden and stayed that way. I had a wonderful day and will report soon. Sadly Brian is leaving us but will be remembered 'fondly'.
