info sheets and rules on confetti

DrBuffles, 15 March, 2014 at 20:18 Posted on Planning 0 7

My venue has strict rules on confetti

1. It mush be real petals

2. It must be pale pink or white/ivory

3. It can only be thrown inside (for the confetti shot)

For these reasons I'm going to be getting some real petals in pale pink and will be putting a little bag on every other seat for the ceremony so people can thrown them when we walk back down the aisle.

My question is should I put this info on my info sheet that is going in the invites? Most people my generation don't seem to take confetti to weddings the same as my mum does but I don't want to be told off by the venue if anyone does get enthusiastic!

The other option is putting a line on the order of the day or even on the confetti bag itself? What do you think? Is anyone else having this dilemma?

I had similar situation & simply put it on the info sheet in the invite. Cant remember exact words, but something like:

'Due to strict venue requirements, please don't bring rice, confetti or any petals. Acceptable confetti will be provided on the day'

I would defiantly put something in writing somewhere for your guests, as you say Aunties etc will perhaps be bringing their own, paper or even that shiny plastic stuff.
Only rose petals, fair enough some venues don't like paper confetti, but why specify the colour ---- And then only throw it inside also. The reason they usually say petals is so it looks a little more natural in the gardens and they don't have to clear it up, but to say you can only throw it inside then that means that they do have to clean it up so would it matter what it was, I would say that paper confetti will hoover up a lot easier than petals would. Are you sure you have read the terms right as i dont quite see it make sense.

Thanks for the help teal. That sounds fine to write on the info sheet.

Bill, I'm certain I have it correct. It was in a conversation we had with the venue very early on. They only allow real petals for whatever reason but I know this is not uncommon. The colour is because the floor is pale stone tiles and she said if it's darker shades it stains the flooring. They only allow it inside because then it is contained and cleared up easily rather than a bride turning up on a Sunday to find Fridays and Saturdays petals hanging around the outside areas of the venue.

Yep I do see it quite often if I am at a venue on a Sunday, there are two or even more (from last week) patches of confetti dotted around the grounds with a bride and groom shape hole in the middle.

Something like this would be perfect.

My venue doesn't allow confetti what so ever. We've got a wedding website where we've told people & we just won't really give the guests the chance to throw some anyway.

This sounds good to me. We're not allowed any either pugsley so I'm just informing the photographer to make sure they don't suggest it x

We are not allowed any confetti at our venue so are providing guests with bubbles instead...our photographer suggested it and said it makes a great photo! We just put on our info sheet "the venue does not permit any confetti on their premises...however you confetti throwers need not worry...any alternative will be provided on the day!"

Hope these give you some ideas. You do need a lot of people, or do it inside or if out with no wind and like the 2nd photo here it can be hard to see the bubbles. And a warning that on dark bridesmaids dresses burst bubbles can mark.
