Instant vs Tank Water Heaters – Real Experience Needed

Masha, 7 April, 2026 at 15:39 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

Hi everyone! I’ve been dealing with an old storage water heater for years, and lately it’s become a real headache. It takes forever to reheat, sometimes I completely run out of hot water, and honestly, my electricity bills don’t look very friendly anymore. So I started thinking about upgrading, and I keep seeing people talk about instant (tankless) water heaters. At first, it sounded like the perfect solution — hot water on demand, no waiting, less wasted energy. But the more I read, the more questions I have. Is it really that efficient in everyday use? What happens if two people need hot water at the same time? And is the installation complicated or expensive compared to traditional systems? I’d really appreciate hearing real experiences from people who’ve actually made the switch, because I don’t want to rely only on ads or marketing claims.

I totally get your doubts — I had the same questions before upgrading my system. One of the most helpful things I found was this article https://goodmooddotcom.com/what-is-an-instantaneous-water-heater-and-is-it-right-for-you-comparison-with-storage-water-heaters/ It’s not just a basic overview — the site actually explains in a very clear and practical way how instant water heaters work, how they compare to storage systems, and what you should realistically expect in daily use. What I liked is that it doesn’t just praise one option — it breaks down both pros and limitations. For example, you’ll learn why instant heaters can save energy by heating water only when needed, but also why capacity matters if you plan to use multiple taps at once. After reading it, I understood much better which option fits different lifestyles. From my own experience, switching to an instant heater was worth it — less waiting, more control, and better efficiency overall. But I’d definitely recommend going through that guide first, because it helps you avoid choosing the wrong system for your needs.
