Insurance company took my money twice, should i have to wait eons for a refund?

Gah.

Insureandgo, i am talking about you.

I renewed my annual travel insurance on friday, the sales advisor had some difficulty taking my payment, but said it went through and i would definately only be charged once.

Super, i thought, until today when i tried to get some money out to pay for a car park, which i had already been parked in, and could not get any as i was overdrawn. Super embarrasing, the patient i was supporting had to sub me so i couldf get her home, she is now paid back.

So, when i look online, they did take the payment twice, so i rang and informed them.

They said they could only see one payment taken (which fuelled the rage, i hate it when it is ininuated hat i am trying to pull a fast one) and could i prove it? They also said it takes up to 30 working days to process a refund - which further fuelled the rage.

So, i emailed them, at their request, with a screen shot of my account, asking them to call me urgently, ( i have no policy number to quote them as the same dimbo that charged me twice also did not email me my policy) to inform me what they are doing to rectify this, i also said i wanted it sorted by the end of the day.

It is now nearing the end of the day, and i just know i won't hear from them and am currently stewing. Where do i stand on demanding repayment immediately?

I d email again, setting out what happened, and demanding that they cover any bank charges that you may have incurred as well. the 30 day thing is bollocks, its their mistake. wtf should they benefit from your money for 30 days when they have taken it without your persmission? no, get on to them. write the email, then ring them and dont take no for an answer when you ask for a manager. tell them you expect it back in your account by the end of friday very latest.

edited to add that you could also call your bank and tell them funds have been taken without your knowledge, and get them to charge back.

Hi Sparks, i am tired and stressed, but thats work stuff, other than that i am good ta!

Thanks Nick, i did as you advice in my first email , was polite but assertive. I had not thought to contact the bank though, thanks, ill do that too.

I did just ring customer services too, as i did not even get a standard, 'we got your email' response earlier, and someone will ring me back within the hour.

Ill wait to hear what they say then and then do as you advise, i just wanted to check they were not goping to try andf guff me off with some banking rules i don't understand.

If i was not such an awkward bugger to insure, i would tell them to poke it and get both refunded ?
