OH and I say:

  • investigalise / investigalisation = investigate / investigation
  • attackalise = attack (v) / attackalisation = attack (n)
  • demelade = lemonade

and others I can't bring to mind atm.

Also, I have to refer to the 'biscuit barrel', as when I was young my mum said that 'biscuit tin' was rude, and I still can't quite bring myself to say it! ??

We tend to pronounce things as they are spelt. For example 'chocolate' in our house is said 'choc ol a tee'.

We also play on how some people pronounce a famous person's name incorrectly and take it to shop names:

    George Michaels

    Michael Hutchinson

    Mataland

    Houses of Frasiers

    Deb en hams

    ...and so on.

My niece used to mix letters up in words all the time when she was younger, so we have the following:

    Varnailish - Nail varnish
    Subramine - Submarine
    Flaningmo - Flamingo

We also use Shiplookers instead of binoculars, which is rather strange on occasions that you're using them inland rather than on water.

I like hairyplane. At work the other day we were presented with a paper that contained the word "disintermediation" - taking out the middle man.

if we really like something we are eating we say humina humina humina! with great gusto

we call popcorn cockporn (my niece called it this when she was 3 !)

there's lots more, but they just come naturally so can't think right now!
