Invitations

I’m not sure on when is the best time to send out the invitations. Or do I send out “save the date” cards first? I’m just not sure
The wedding is in the beginning of 2024. So when is too early?

    Hiya!
I have a timeline guide that says to send Save the Dates 6 months before your wedding and invitations 2-3 months before the wedding.
We'll have people travel from abroad and have a Mid-week wedding, so we sent the Save the Dates 11 months in advance to allow for planning, budgeting and the likes. I plan on sending the invites around 3-4 months in advance for the same reasons.

Yep, I really think it depends where the guests are coming from, and also the date you’ve chosen. About half our guests are coming from abroad, and we’re getting married on a bank holiday weekend, so we gave them over a year’s notice with save the dates to allow them time to plan/book accommodation. We’ll send the invitations about 4 months before for the same reason.

We sent save the dates a year before, we had an insert to ask them to let us know now if they couldn't make it so we knew straight away and could jiggle our guest list to add people we were having to the evening on to the day list, as it means when we send the invites it is not done later and make people feel they were on the list originally. If you have accommodation recommendations or a discount for a certain hotel I would include that on your save the dates, a lot of my guests booked straight away when they got the save the dates, one didn't and she has looked this week and the hotel cost has trebled now!

Our invites where sent last week for our wedding on 30 April 2022, slightly earlier than recommended but purely because we need to give final numbers to the venue by end of February and with Christmas it didn't leave much time. We gave the RSVP date as 2 months ( gave an exact date), which then leaves us a couple of weeks to chase. We had half our guests reply within days and the other half nothing! Is frustrating, especially when you can see they have been on the website but not replied, my Mum included!

4 months is a good timeframe, if you sent too early people thing they have loads of time or dont want to commit that far out, so you sit waiting
