Invitations - how much did you pay?

GregorsGirl60, 20 June, 2013 at 15:20 Posted on Planning 0 20

Hi ladies,

I'm just wondering what people paid/what the most is they WOULD pay for wedding invitations. I made my own so didn't even look around but someone I know spent hundreds!

So, just interested really, what's your price?

I made my own for the day, but wouldn't be prepared to spend more than £2 each if buying.

I bought very simple for the evening (CLC Designs were fab) and it was 60p a go, with personalised text etc.

Personally designed my self and sent to local printers who did invites and RSVP and threw in some envelopes for £35 - but we were lucky.

think i would have paid about a £1-2 because we had so many to send

I'm making my own, which are coming in around £3 each (without labour obv.) but I've counted the cost of a large letter stamp in with that - and they do have an expensive embellishment on them. I've seen similar for sale of that style and they were £6 each (obv. without stamp) - after material costs I know this price is to account for the maker's time, but £6 for one invite is insane!

We've done all our stationery ourselves, and I reckon the total bill, for card, ribbons and other embellishments is about £160, plus postage. For that we got around 70 invitations, RSVPs and info sheets, 100 orders of service and 84 place cards and favour boxes. The only thing we haven't done yet is the table plan. Should probably add £14 for a new ink cartridge as well. We also got exactly what we wanted. I defy anyone to buy everything for that price!

How many was that for? So £80 is amazing for like 200 i would think, but less so for 40 if you know what I mean.

I admit to being a bit rubbish at budgeting mine so I have no idea how much we spent on materials etc.

So maybe I should revise the question - what's your price per invitation?

    *cough* twenty five... *cough cough*

You've seen through my thinly disguised veil of smugness. They were very nice though! They were EMBOSSED! ?

In total our invitations have come to £91 ..... hmmm i thought they were a lot cheaper ops!

That was for 70 invitations, 70 information sheets and 100 self addressed RSVP cards, so i that isnt too bad really, £1.30 per invitation.

That's the thing - I think it's something you don't want to scrimp on because it's the first sign people get about what your wedding will be like BUT at the same time, everyone is always looking for the best deal.

That's why I was so curious - do you go for something you absolutely love and spend a bit more? Or do you go for something that is 'just ok' and make a saving you can use somewhere else?

Including ink and the rubber stamps it's cost £40 for 50 all day invites, 90 evening invites and 70 order of service cards

Mine work out about £2.50 each I think after postage... will be ordering approc 50 so around £125.

My friend's cost £5.50 and she has 130 guests going (although that's probably only about 65-70 invites).

I'm a cheapskate and don't want to spend too much!

I've made mine myself and for 120 invites & RSVP cards, 120 order of service it has come to £80. I've bought pearlised/shimmer card and paper from a local craft shop and got glitter paper and ribbon and paper cutters from eBay.

Have you got a picture of it? We could perhaps advise on how you could create something similar and save money?
