Invites: how to say no plus ones/children, money or gifts

Wildberry, 11 December, 2021 at 22:20 Posted on Planning 0 6
We can only have 20 of us Inc me and the groom. So it's a strict no to plus ones and children. How do we say this in a nice way without offending people?
Also how do we say no gifts or money as we don't need anything and dont feel comfortable people giving us money?
Thanks

We had an insert to say that whilst we would love to have everyone at our special day our finances and ceremony space unfortunately do not allow for that so the invite is for the named person only. We understand that this may be upsetting but we hope they understand and will be able to celebrate our special day. We alos ask that in them of presents, your presence in the day is enough for us.

Somethinike that. We had a few kick backs and declined but we knew it could happen so accept their decision. Hope you can word it the right way

It is hard, but as long as you are comfortable with your choice then try not to stress. Weddings are so political. Ours is 50 huests but as my family is massive we had to make the choice to cut out Cousins and their kids. Good luck x

It can get out of hand can't it. If you invite so in so you then have to invite so in so.
One thing that does help us is that it's midweek so children would be at school during the school time.

On the gifts piece, what about asking for donations to charity? You could say something like "we are already so happy with everything we have, so would like to use our wedding as an opportunity to help others. As such, in lieu of a gift, we would be extremely grateful if you could make a donation to our chosen charity, X?" Difficult for people to argue with someilike that!
