Is 65 a "big" birthday?

Highlandgirl72, 4 September, 2008 at 09:49 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

It is my FIL's 65th birthday this Saturday. H was wanting to get him something a bit different because "it's his 65th". I hadn't thought of it being a "big" birthday. What do you all think?

I have it as a special birthday in my head, no idea why. Maybe because it's retirement age?

I think it is just due to being retirement age - my dad will be 65 next year and we'll be treating it as a special birthday (even though he has been a house husband for the last 7 years and will not be 'retiring'!)

I usually think it is a pretty big birthday, yes.

Yes, for sure. Retirement! What better reason would you need to celebrate?

Yes I think it is. For my MIL we did a cake in the shape of a 2 and a 1 and had "again" piped on the bottom of the 1! We also celebrated my FIL's 65th and it's his 70th next year which we intend to mark too (although he doesn't want to and has no idea what we are already planning!) ?

Must be just me then! I think it is because FIL has been retired for years so won't be retiring as such.
