We are thinking of having bowls of sweets on the tables rather than favours, and thinking of the buttons with the hundreds and thousands on, chocolate mice, foamy bananas, all sorts of penny sweets from our childhood.

    Hi ya.

I had a sweet station at my reception.
Here is a couple of pictures of it -

The sweets that were best were the chocolate footballs, mini eggs and jely beans. The boiled sweets didnt really get eaten.

    Hope this helps. Lindsey

I think I want one now I've seen this!
We're getting married just after Halloween so it would actually tie in quite nicely to have bowl of "treats"
I'd have to include those big flat strawberry ones you can get, they're my favourite.
BTW if you can get to a Macro's they do all the sweets there a lot cheaper than at a sweet shop ?

    Hi
I got my sweet from a cash and carry as my mum works for a school with a card.

I bought about 5 bags/boxes (they were the size of the sweet jars in proper sweet shops)

I really want to add a sweetie section to the evening buffet but the terms and conditions say no food that is not ordered from the venue so I haven't got around to asking yet.

We are having goldfish bowls of sweets dotted round, they will all be individually wrapped things like black jacks, fruit salads and the like, simply because I'm a microbiologist and grow bacteria for a living and don't like the idea of eating sweets after 20 other people have had their hands in the bowl before me!

To get round the germ problem I thought maybe I could do cellephane bags of pic n mix for each person as favours instead. What do you think?

Good idea with the tongs but I'm a paranoid microbiologist!! I know what kids are like!!

I thought of doing individual bags of things but I figure by letting people get their own they can pick and choose the sweets they like (reading in between the lines: I'm too lazy!)

One of my weddings, we are doing pic 'n' mix bags of sweets on seats/tables in a room that we are using as a cinema as there is a two hour gap between day and evening. We are also doing cones of popcorn. We looked into doing bowls for people to help themselves, but with children there too, it was decided against it because of germs. But if you have scoops and bags for people to put the sweets into, this would be fine.

I get mine from cash & carry but if you can't get hold of a card then Toys R Us also do tubs of sweets.

We are going to have bowls of heart lollipops and bowls of the mini love heart tubes dotted around the bar and reception area.

I bought mine from a website called the sweet arcade on Sunday and they arrived today. Really reasonably priced, but the delivery was a little high.

I also spent another £20 on sweets for myself to eat now. They had some I hadn't seen since I was little. I am just munching on pink candy pigs now.
