Is anyone on Microgynon 30?

Sunset21, 20 June, 2008 at 08:18 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

I missed one yesterday and i've less than 7 left. I've chucked the box out cause it was the last strip. Can you just check your instructions for me please? Do I carry on with the next pack without a break?

I've checked online which is what it says but i'm not sure that's what the paperwork in the pack said the last time this happened.

I'm not on it at the moment as I'm pregnant so dont have the instructions to hand - but unless they've changed in the last 4 months, yes you carry on with the next pack without a break!

It will be like most other pills (I was on Microgynon about 3 pills ago). If I miss one, e.g Thursday, then I will take Thursday's & Friday's together, it's never done me any harm and I don't bother taking the next pack straight after. I just take them as I normally would.

I have the instructions right here. Are you more than 12 hours late for your missed one or less?

Def don't take two together, you'll feel sick as a dog!

24 hours. I went to take my friday one this morning and Thursday's was still there. I took both together and I'm feeling ok so far lol!

Maybe i'll just carry on til the end of the pack and have the normal break. I haven't had marital unpleasantness since my last break so I should be ok.

To be sure you should go straight onto the next pack, or use extra protection for the next 7 days. I've taken 2 packs in a row several time for holidays etc and always been fine.

Edited as that's a load of rubbish what I just put actuall ?, must have changed since I last looked!

This is what the BNF has to say about it

    Missed pill

The critical time for loss of contraceptive protection is when a pill is omitted at the beginning or end of a cycle (which lengthens the pill-free interval).

If a woman forgets to take a pill, it should be taken as soon as she remembers, and the next one taken at the normal time (even if this means taking 2 pills together). A missed pill is one that is 24 or more hours late. If a woman misses only one pill, she should take an active pill as soon as she remembers and then resume normal pill-taking. No additional precautions are necessary.

If a woman misses 2 or more pills (especially from the first 7 in a packet), she may not be protected. She should take an active pill as soon as she remembers and then resume normal pill-taking. In addition, she must either abstain from sex or use an additional method of contraception such as a condom for the next 7 days. If these 7 days run beyond the end of the packet, the next packet should be started at once, omitting the pill-free interval (or, in the case of everyday (ED) pills, omitting the 7 inactive tablets).

Emergency contraception (section 7.3.5) is recommended if 2 or more combined oral contraceptive tablets are missed from the first 7 tablets in a packet and unprotected intercourse has occurred since finishing the last packet.
