Yes, he is. Needs to get his head down and concentrate on his rugby.

No idea what you're talking about.

He won 2003 IRB Young player of the year ahead of some major talent. He's recognised as a major talent who is injury prone.

Unfortunately because of his girlfriend he gets tarred with the brush of being a celebrity whore, but anyone who talks about him speaks about his dedication to training and playing.

If you mean the hair and the tan - well, yes, he might be a bit on the vain side, but does that make him an arse? No.

And the tan thing - my H (welsh) tells me that in the valleys (where he's from) it's a status symbol to have a tan - it comes from the time when everyone worked down the mines and had no sun exposure. Having a tan meant you had a better job. Hence the number of orange girls I see when we go to Cardiff for rugby (apologies to any Welsh people here - it's what my H has told me and what I have witnessed with my own eyes).

Henson on his day and on form is a guy most teams would pick.

Not that I know him personally but I just read an interview with him and CC and he came across as ok. Maybe not the sharpest knife in the drawer but ok.

Didn't he recently get prosecuted for drink driving? On hat count, yes, there is an element of arsy-ness abot him. I regard him, as I would anyone who drink drives, as arrogant and selfish. Big issue as my dad and my brother "got done" within 8 weeks of one another. Listening to how they could lose their jobs if they lost their license etc etc.

Is this about his 'celebrations' at the weekend?

    Nick is referring to this:

IIRC, it's not the first time that Henson has been involved in similar incidents (pissing on a train was it?)

    You mean this? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/4686306/Gavin-Henson-under-investigation-for-drunken-behaviour.html

That does make him sound like a bit of a knob.

Well in that case, yes he is an arse and deserves disciplinary action.

It would seem there is an element of bad behaviour due to drink but is it any different to how many act on Saturday night. Are the pressures of family and job getting to him? Who knows.

Like it or not, he's an ambassador for his country and someone who kids look up to. He does have a responsibility if he wants to wear the shirt.

No idea whether he's a knob or not but I saw an international match not long ago, the players were all in the tunnel before the match, jumping up and down, huffing to themselves etc. Henson was checking his hair ?

I think he needs to stop trying to be one of the lads and get back to concentrating on rugby.

alison76, I'm originally from the valleys, and I have never heard that about a tan, most people I know make fun of him for trying to be a pretty boy and it certainly isn't the norm for valleys blokes to all be tango'd! (Henson is from Bridgend rather than the valleys too).

Agree with you wholeheartedly, but are the actions of impressionable youngsters likely to be as a result of a "celebrity" behaving badly or more likely to be down to peer pressure. I believe it's a combination of the 2 but certainly what doesn't help is the sometimes lax attitudes of the courts when sentencing. That itself I would have thought would be more dangerous to portray to young uns.

I don't know much about him but from those reports it sounds as though he's prone to being a knob with some drink inside him, as BGB said given the status that he holds in playing for his country that kind of behaviour is not on. Interestingly it said that other players were present and had undoubtedly had a few drinks themselves, yet they managed to remove him from the pub, apologise to the other customers and stayed on to chat with some of them. So if they can have a good time without getting lairey surely it's not unreasonable to ask Mr Henson to do likewise?
