Is it feasible to alter Justin Alexander 8878?

DebbieW, 25 December, 2017 at 07:44 Posted on Planning 0

I'm in love with JA 8878 online (https://www.justinalexander.com/en/justin-alexander/collection/wedding-dresses/8878/) and found a good bargain on Ebay. I'm usually UK size 8 but I think the dress I found is US size 10.

I learned from multiple discussions here (https://www.hitched.co.uk/chat/forums/thread/justin-alexander-sizing-375201/, https://www.hitched.co.uk/chat/forums/thread/justin-alexander-sizing-239903/2/) that JA sizing can be uncertain. My question is, do you think the dress is alterable considering the delicate detail on the back and sides?

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Many thanks!

It should be alterable by a good seamstress, just be wary of eBay bargains, they aren't always what they are supposed to be. For instance if the dress is a copy and it's thin material then altering it could fray or damage it, it just depends on the dress and of course finding a seamstress that you trust. If you're at all unsure buy it using a credit card and check it's covered by section (I forget the number maybe 69?) insurance by your credit card company.

    Hope that helps.
