Is the hitched rating system worth it?

I did see one the other week with a 1 star rating - so I don't think they are all 5 stars!! But I would only write a review if I had received really good or really bad service - nothing really in between!

Ooh OK, I've only seen 5 stars, guess it must vary then. It's obvious who some of the good suppliers are because they have loads of good reviews, but quite difficult to know with some that don't have any or very few IYKWIM.. I'm sure loads are really good, but difficult to tell.

To be honest, a lot of hitchers don't know it's there. I didn't actually know it was there until one of my Brides emailed me to say she had put a rating on! The people who do give ratings are normally people who use the Hitched forum who have used HIb's on here and although there are some great HIB's who get loads of business from Brides on here, Linda @ Flowergem, Starstruck, Made by Lawrie etc, there are loads of us in the directory where the bulk of our business comes from elsewhere hence no ratings or not so many! So in answer to your original question... is it worth it? .... I think if you are a hitcher and you are looking for a business who also hitches and want to see what kind of service they have given to fellow hitchers they have done work for ... then Yes!! IYSWIM ?

i agree with brenda, not a lot of hitchers know about the reviews in the directories,and brenda's btb's obviously dont cos her business comes from elsewhere so they wont know about the directory,...and i'm guessing you didnt know until you gave me a n&p yesterday, and i asked if you could write a review for me....good idea if other hibs do this too?
this is what i do...if they n&p me, i ask if they could write a review for me....or if an hitcher who orders from me is a lurker, or has found me in the directory etc, then i ask them too....i dont hold a gun to thier head? and never tell them what to say, i just ask them....most do it happily and from the heart iyswim?
i must admit....i'm really proud of my hitch reviews, even though i have about 50 to date?its not the amount i have...its what all my btb's have said about me..and not just about my flowers.
n&ps vanish within days...but hitch reviews last for as long as hibs etc continue to advertise.
i also have a link to my hitch reviews on my testimonial page on my website,which i hope tells btb's about the hitch directory...plus i have a biiig flashing hitch banner on my home page giving btb's the opportunity to join hitch...which if you join the directory, you are asked to add a link to your website as part of the conditions of advertising.

I agree with Brenda, most of my work is from recommendation so my Brides , many of them local are not Hitchers and don't know about the Directory.I think it is a good idea to have reviews but the only ones that seem to appear are Good reviews with 5 stars like you say and I know some people have left Bad reviews and they don't show.So it is not a true reflection of Services offered.

I'd forgotten about the rating system Linda, glad you reminded me! I really wanted to leave you a nice review, not just to say thanks for your lovely work, but also because it can be a bit bewildering trying to find so many suppliers for your wedding day!

I tried to use the recommendation system when I first joined hitched for the early stuff (venues, bands etc) but just didn't find it much use.

glad i was of help re the reviews....
maybe if you see recomendations, you could also ask if delivery was prompt etc...or were they kept updated....i think good comms are also really important....if anyone is like me? i hate to be kept waiting for replies from sellers...really annoying.

I think it's worth it, but I think Hitched should push it a bit more as few people know it's there.
I've also seen ratings from 1 - 5 stars, I think the only time a review isn't put up there is when it's really nasty. I think if more people knew it was there, there would be more chance of people giving varied star ratings - there'd just be more response if that makes sense.
It's a nice way of saying thanks if you've ordered something you like from a Hib as well as a help for other brides.

I don't think it is worth it tbh unless they allow all reviews to be shown. I understand though the suppliers pay to advertise so they don't want to upset them, people could maliciously post bad reviews etc but at the same time people could falsely give good reviews.

I had a poor service with one, wrote a review and magically it has never appeared.

No-one has reviewed me!
