I've booked my wedding venue!

nicola2010, 7 December, 2008 at 16:17 Posted on Planning 0 10

Newland Hall in Chelmsford for Saturday 1st May 2010

I am hugely excited now that we have officially set the date!

Has anyone been to this venue or are there any other Essex brides out there?

Nicola

Congratulations on booking your venue and welcome to Hitched! I know there's quite a few brides getting married in Essex, but it can be a bit quiet around here on a Sunday.

When did you get engaged? Have you decided on a theme or made any other plans yet?

    Thank you!

We got engaged 27th June 2007 so it seems like ages ago lol

We had originally planned to marry in Florida but due to some family issues we have decided to have the wedding here and honeymoon in florida instead so we have been looking around venues for the last 2 months solid.

Im really happy that we have now settled on a venue and im looking forward to the planning but the venue said it will be a while before we hear from them... no fair! lol

We love DisneyWorld so we're thinking of incorporating that into our theme.

As for colour scheme... my favourite colour is blue but i dont know what shade i like... maybe an nice light, pastel blue but ultimately it would decide on what blue flowers i can get... if i dont like the flowers that come in blue then i may have to go for pink as that seems to be an easy colour scheme to coordinate lol

    How are your plans going?

If you do a google image search for "blue wedding flowers" you'll get pages and pages of beautiful bouqets. Should give you a good idea of what shades of blue you can get for flowers.

I think a Disneyland theme could be fabulous! Did you know that there's a range of wedding dresses inspired by Disney characters? Can't remember offhand which designer it is, but have seen photos in some of the magazines recently.

We're getting married abroad and so far, most things are going well. Everything for Vegas is decided and booked. All we have left to organise is a venue for our London party, my dress, bridesmaids dress, invites and a dj.

I'm sure you'll have an amazing time in Vegas you lucky thing!

We've never been but it's on our places to go list.

I have seen the disney dresses yes but im not in love with any of the styles to be honest.

I will google the blue flowers and see what i can come up with, thanks for that.

I love bright blues as a rule but i think that may be too much for dresses which is why im thinking pastel shades might be better but it's so hard to tell when you're just looking on websites. Probably best to order some swatches but everyone seems to think im starting my planning for this sort of thing too early.

I wont go dress shopping until next May onwards but i thought at least if i can decide now what shade i like, i can then just focus on dress styles when it comes to hitting the shops.

Do you think it's too early to start ordering swatches?

Thanks Louise that's what i thought.

Hmm i think you can just order them off the websites (correct me if i am wrong though). That's what i was planning to do.

Thank you, i hope so as the past 18 months since we got engaged has gone soooo slow, especially when all you can do is save up and not set any actual plans on what it will be spent on... now we've booked the major expense it looks like we'll have to work alot harder at saving up for everything else lol

Just try not to wish all your planning time away as you'll never get that time back (well hopefully not!)

I feel your pain with the savings. Thats all we felt we did for 2.5 years but it all works out when you know you can have what you want. We didnt really scrimp on anything because we paid for loads of things earlier on......which meant I could have the wedding ring I wanted, honeymoon we wanted etc.

It will all be worth it.
