I've found a lump, I'm terrified!!

25 October, 2010 at 22:39 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 18

I was in the shower earlier and I felt a lump on my chest. I'm absolutely terrified!! It's sore to touch and I go away in a few days Smiley sad

I don't want to tell anyone.....could it go away? Or do I really need to see someone, although it will be at least a fortnight until I can.

My mum went through all this 2 years ago and it's kinda freaked me out

Go asap before you go away... probably nothing but always best to check, and you will only worry and spoil your holiday if you don't...

    Hi Tinkerbelle,

It is possibly nothing to worry about, but will you be able to enjoy your holiday thinking that it may not be?

Go asap as the others said, just to put your mind at rest if nothing else

Go to the docs and get it checked. If it hurts it is probably a small cyst or inflamed gland. I am no doctor but my Mum had Breast cancer & they don't hurt .

Good Luck and let us know how you get on xx

It's probably nothing to worry about, but still best to get it checked out. X

? I'm glad you've spoken to your mum and she's arranged an appointment for you, I hope the doctor can reassure you a bit, as most lumps turn out to be nothing to worry about.

I found a lump on my armpit a couple of years ago and like you feared the worse. After having all the tests it was found to be a cyst, but I can remember all that worry and what if's, which must be even worse for you having seen your mum go through it all.

Let us know how you get on x x

I have found one on 2 occasions now the same breast, and went straight to the doctor both times. It is scary when you 1st find it but as others have said it could be nothing to worry about. Mine was my milk ducts filling, god knows why but it can occur around your period.

Are you due on at all? As your body does change at this time as well.

Ring the doctor and don't forget to let us know how you get on. Chin up and ?

Tinkerbelle, first thing is first, try not to get yourself worked up.

If it's painful, it's far more likely to be nothing nasty. Where are you in your cycle? (.)(.)'s are more likely to be lumpy at certain times of the month.

Definitely get it checked out, if only to put your mind at rest. If you're worried you'll be able to get an emergency appointment so you won't need to wait 12 days. If you don't get it checked out, you'll only worry whilst you're away.

I'm sure it will be nothing to worry about.

Believe me, I speak from a position of authority on these points!

Have another inadequate ? and now try and forget about it until after NY. Impossible I know but please try not to think the worst.

    Keep us informed.

PS - breast clinic workers (in my thankfully limited experience) are all lovely and caring.
