Jewelled hair combs

Emma158, 28 February, 2013 at 13:25 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi,

This may sound a bit silly but just looking for a bit of advice. I'm thinking of having my hair in some sort of retro wavy type down do for the big day (see below) but would love to have a vintage style jewelled comb on one side. I was just wondering how/if it would stay in!!!

Thanks :-)

They struggle to stay in very fine hair but styled hair should be ok. Just make sure you use lots of hair grips - they can be quite weighty.

I was interested in having one, but becuase my hair is going to be straight on the day it would probably fall out Smiley sad

    Hair style looks lovely Emma!

It's not my professional area of expertise, so I can't offer any definitive advice, but from personal experience my hair comb is quite heavy and there wont be a lot to support it, but fixed properly with grips and spray it seems to stay put! We've seen some brides with huge weighty hair pieces before and *touch wood* as yet, they've all been fine Smiley smile

Best of luck with the rest of your plans!

I love the hairstyle you've chosen. Just beautiful!

I'm sorry I can't offer any practical advice, but thought I'd share this website I came across www.vintagestyler.co.uk/wedding-hair-combs/

They have a lovely selection of combs to choose from.

You can backcomb a small section of hair where the comb will go (not in a big crazy way) and it'll give the comb and hairgrips something to grab onto. My friend has very fine hair but was able to wear one of my combs easily using that technique
