Jo Malone perfume- experiences?

I-go-by-many-names, 27 March, 2015 at 14:32 Posted on Planning 0 9

So with one week to go I am feeling pretty organised and not stressing too much. But I was saying to a few people at work that I like the idea someone else on the forum mentioned about having a scent for the wedding and honeymoon so that when I wear the scent it reminds me of those events. However we are only taking hand luggage on honeymoon so I can't take a huge bottle and that's when my colleague mentioned Jo Malone.

Is she right that they do small bottles and if so what sort of scent do you think I should go for?

I can go to the one in Leeds on Monday but how much should I budget?

Anyone want to share their experiences please?

They so 30ml bottles so fine for handluggage, think they are £40. I really like mine (blackberry and bay) but find it wears off so quickly on skin, but not as quick on clothes. X

Yep, £40 for 30ml. But as for what sort of scent, that's entirely a personal thing! I love them but was scraping together money in the few weeks before the wedding and couldn't afford them, so I went for Demeter Fragrance Library scents instead. And I'm glad I did, cos immediately afterwards the scent just reminded me of being hot and stressed and rushed when getting ready for the wedding, so I didn't wear it. I do occasionally now!

Not done fragrance combining but i'm a Jo Malone aficionado.

My favourites are blackberry & bay, blue agava and cacao, and my new favourite, peony & blush. I wore peony & blush for my wedding and have worn it every day since, I love it.

The 30ml bottles aren't the best value, however, they are so handy to throw in your handbag that I don't mind the cost.

There are some new limited edition JM fragrances that have just come out, all to do with British icons, I smelt them last week and wasn't really taken by any of them.

We have done the fragrance combining for our wedding scent....both me and h2b.

We had an amazing experience there.....but did end up spending £350 so not for the faint hearted. gorgeous result though!

Lime, Basil and Mandarin is my personal favourite. My OH and I both use Amber and Lavender. I used to love French Lime Blossom, but several years ago (at least nine) they either changed the recipe or my skin changed. It wasn't the same on me after that.

As others have said they do a small bottle - the most annoying thing is that the large ones (much better value) used to have a cap that unscrewed. The scent could then be decanted into an atomiser with a glass reservoir for a top up on the move.

Its worth a visit to try a few and combinations - the staff (at least in the Sloane Street shop) are very helpful.

Thanks for all the advice, I think I will visit the store on Monday. I doubt my OH will be coming as I mentioned the idea to him and he said we both already had fragrances so it is a waste of money, kind of missing the point! He's not very sentimental whereas I love the idea I can smell our wedding!

My OH is against the idea too, as he says he wants me to smell like me on the day and wear my normal perfume lol. It's one he got me- Calvin Klein Moments.

i used to wear Jo Malone Pomegramite Noir which was really nice. Definitely worth a sniff!

Those little squirty bottles are excellent! fill them up from whatever and they only hold 6ml liquid.
