Jobs for younger children at wedding

Jemma, 25 January, 2022 at 09:52 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi there!

We are wondering what sort of jobs we can give my younger boy cousins at the wedding? We already have groomsmen (S/O's three best friends, cousin and my brother (already I feel like that's a lot)), so we was wondering what jobs they could have on the day?

Our wedding is next year so the boys will be 9, 7 and 2 (I know the youngest won't have a job but still somehow want him involved?)

Thanks!

Are you having a printed order of service? You could have them handing those out. Or if you have some kind of box or basket for any cards that people bring, you could put them 'in charge' of that. They can also 'help' greet guests as they arrive.

As far as the two year old goes, I'd see how he's doing on the day. Preparing a job for a toddler to do in advance puts you at risk of toddler meltdown on the day. And at 2, he won't know if his job is important or not, so you can always get him to take things from one person to another so that he feels he is 'helping' even if it would be quicker to do the job yourself!

Could you buddy them with a groomsman each to help with seating guests and shadow them in their duties?

That is what we are doing, also keeps them out of mischief and the childcare is taken care of!

If you’re thinking of buddying them up with groomsmen make sure to ask the groomsmen first and allow them to say if they wouldn’t feel comfortable with that. Depends how well they know each other of course - I’m just thinking some of our groomsmen would not want to be left with children shadowing them 😂

We have 3 page boys ages 3,3 & 5 we’ve got signs for them to hold at the front saying

‘I’m only here for the cake’
‘Don’t worry ladies I’m still single’‘I’m free for a dance later’
Just for a bit of fun really xD

At weddings, younger children can be given fun and light tasks to keep them engaged while adding joy to the event. They can serve as flower girls or ring bearers, welcome guests with smiles, hand out sweets or wedding favors, or even help in guiding people to their seats. These roles make them feel important while keeping the celebration lively. Just like jobscentre.pk connects people with suitable opportunities, children at weddings can also be assigned roles that fit their energy and enthusiasm, ensuring they contribute meaningfully while enjoying themselves.
